If it was box and papers, I wonder if this was a sale gone wrong and someone ran off with it. One reason why I will never meet in person to sell a watch unless I am dropping it off after its been fully paid for.

Please tell us what happened to learn from this and hopefully prevent it from happening to another owner. Hope you are reunited with your watch soon.

Ya it was a sale gone wrong. Wanted to do a face-to-face transaction. The guy was slick and the initial conversation made me trust him more. That shit went the wrong way when I decided to show him the watch.

Bomb his phone with overnight calls

So sorry to hear this but now we have his info...let us band together and bomb his phone with calls 24/7. Just make sure to block your phone number when you call him.

Terrible. I'm so sorry op. Hope you're physically okay from this.

When I deal face to face payment has to be confirmed prior. If the buyer doesn't like it I move on. Only exception is for friends and people I actually know in the hobby.

Karma is real in every way, these guys will get what's coming. Sorry for your loss op.

With respect - what happened? Jumped with a weapon? Where did you meet?

These sorts of details, while personal can help others not fall for the same trap.

Be good to understand the specifics (I know its painful) to help others. In SoCal we've had situations even meeting in banks where the thief will try to make conversation but they are waiting for the moment to grab the watch and run off before you can react. In many cases, just the watch was stolen and they left the box and card behind (Rolex).

The Patek box is bigger/heavier, you could still quickly close it, grab it and run. This one sounds a bit less than a grab and run, it might have been armed robbery if the thief made it out with box, papers, and watch.

How i wish there were also Trusted Buyers.

But if we limit buyers to reputable forum members, market would be limited.

Anyway, praying that this is resolved favorably for you OP.

This is horrible. My policy is, no face to face. Some buyers seem turned off by this but that’s my rule. My feeling is references are king
