On the bracelet the Overseas wears very similarly to the 15400.
It just about fits a 6.7 inch flat wrist as the bracelet is substantial. If you wear on the rubber its a different story and fits nicely even on a smaller wrist. I'd say ok down to 6.5. |

I love the look of the Overseas, I'd go so far as to say it's closest thing I have to an "attainable grail," but for the life of me I have a really hard time accepting that it does not hack. Is there some sort of a historical reason for that?

Yes and no. Hacking is not something many older movements do, and if you’ve developed your house style in over 260 years... well. In this specific instance, it’s due to space. Vacheron wanted the 5000 platform to be modular and left space for the addition of functions on the one side of the drive train, that means that the other side, which has the winding system in it got a bit squished in terms of real estate. I take it a combination of not finding hacking particularly important for not having had it in hundreds of years and the purely practical reason of wanting to make dual time and chronograph movements on the same platform might be to blame. Not really an issue day to day though.

Continuing the hacking discussion—do those of you who own VCOs back-hack the movement to set the seconds or do you not bother? I read something on some prior thread where someone had contacted VC who said back-hacking was safe.

Personally, I don’t need my watch to be accurate to the second, so I don’t back jack mine. But since I do like my second hand to hit the 60 mark when the minute hand is aligned with an index, I tend to advance it a bit and release it when the seconds hit 60. Worked perfectly for me so far.

I personally don’t agree with the first part of your comment. Although perception is rather subjective, I would say that the 3-handler (4500V) wears more like 43mm. However, I do agree that the chrono wears considerably bigger. |

It is the Zurich Boutique Edition limited to 38 pieces. There is also a chrono version of the Zurich Boutique Edition. Like the 3–hander it is also limited to 38 pieces.

You will be a very happy one. Wears like a true 41mm not too big on my 7" wrist. I've been loving mine since day one which was Christmas eve. Black for me.

Very nice pictures guys. It is stunning no doubt.
I am now mentally prepared for it being a bit large not going to care. Been told to wait at least 3 months. Sent in my first follow up after 6 days! pushing hard... |

Thanks! Got it mainly for the pool so it basically lives on the rubber strap. Also, it’s a treat to look at under the Loupe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Another great thing with mine at least (tourbillon) is the power reserve...I wore my watch last on Friday, put it on today (Tuesday) and still keeping perfect time.
Amazing |

I have to say, I’ve owned a lot of nice watches (Daytonas, vintage Rolex, deep sea, Lange 1, Fifty Fathoms, etc....) (I only list to help with history) and this is, by far, my favorite. I thought the 3 straps was kind of gimmicky, but I switch them all the time.
Btw - I know everyone loves the blue, but silver is my favorite. So timeless and classic. |

That silver dial looks really nice. You can’t go wrong no matter the dial color. When I think the blue dial is the way to go, I take a look at yours and I change my mind. The same thing happens to me with the black and also with the brown dial. Go figure. |

I'm assuming bought new from dealer these go for retail and never under?
What about used can they be found at discounts out there? I'm probably 2 years away and know things can change in markets in that time (maybe for the better as more used inventory) but just trying to plan things as this is my grail as well. |
