I've been wearing 116622 for about 10 months now. There isn't anything I haven't worn it for that I didn't wear a Submariner for. The bezel is a non issue for me as I pay attention. I mow the lawn, clean the cars with the YM just like I did with every other watch I've owned. The easy link works for me. I also prefer the shorter length of the clasp compared to the Glidelock. It's also more comfortable on my wrist that a 6 digit Submariner. YMMV

Love the polish and all silver bezel and blue accents

Gorgeous watch

Cons for the YM
The sunburst can hamper readability
No glide lock

Pros for the SUB
Love the no date clean face
The sub has the glide lock which I love
Better readability and contrast
Classic classic classic

Cons for the SUB
Not crazy about the all black bezel. I wear a lot of brown and blue
Very popular kind of boring

I think you already have the answer
The rest are justifications ....

Are you going to keep it long-term? I might look at a yachtmaster from 10 years ago and a sub from 10 years ago and decide which I'd rather have today. Then choose the modern day equivalent.

maybe little be late in this topic. I have both Sub-ND and TT YM with Chocolate dial.
Yes YM is a very nice watch and I love it more than then my Sub.
But some how I wear the Sub more. Maybe it is becuz my is TT.

But I am on the hunt for a YM rhodium.

YM is a huge step up. Compare the side profile of the case to the sub... you can feel the comfort difference a LOT. Plus precious metal, this is a visual masterpiece in the sun that is not captured in pictures. Its also the updated movement that the sub will eventually get.

I agree with all that.

My only point of contention with the YM is the grey dial. I am concerned about the sunburst effect, meaning in certain light situation, the dial is not legible.

The Sub is much more legible in a variety of light situations, however, I do not like the all black bezel. I do not think it is versatile as the platinum/silver bezel on the YM.

The other sub advantage which isnt a big deal is that i would not be as concerned with daily wear with the Sub as the YM. I see the YM not as a daily watch but more of a dressy or casual watch.

I love the Sub but for this poll would suggest the YM... it's beautiful and you don't see it everyday. Definitely an underrated watch in the sports lineup.

I wear a YM daily. The only downsides to me are (1) no glidelock, and (2) more delicate handling with bezel. With that said, mine looks great even with knocks here and there. However, you could get away with harder knocks on the subs ceramic bezel.

With all that said and given what you wrote, it’s an easy one. YM. When I wore my no date sub, it got even less wear time than my black Explorer II. That’s because I saw black subs so regularly. Every flight I was on, you could count on seeing at least one black sub. I only saw a YM once and it was beautiful. I think Rhodium is the best looking one too. I sport a TT.

I have owned both and both are obviously great watches. I feel like the YM is a bit more blingy but both watches can really work in all situations. I prefer the YM as I prefer the more sculpted Daytona style case and overall the YM just looks more sophisticated to me. You can not go wrong with whatever you choose.
