Is the gold/blue Submariner 116618 bl hard to find?

I am new to the Rolex game. I’m obviously having a difficult and frustrating time finding any SS sport models at my local ADs.

I did see a 116618 bl though. It’s definitely a bit on the higher side of my budget. Is this model difficult to find at ADs ... should I pounce or would I be able to find this model at a later date easily?

I wouldn't settle for something else. if you want an ss at retail just go on a list and sit it out.

Does this submariner usually have a list or are the precious metal models way easier to find?

I imagine they will be relatively easy to get while still in production. I don't know that for a fact.

I've only ever seen one six digit Sub Date in my AD's window. It was the 116619LB. I think it lasted nearly a week and a half! I left quite a bit of droll on the window but that's more than I can justify for one watch, however beautiful and achingly desirable.

No

Just last month in the UK, 2 AD's near me had one in stock each. It even made the display case in both AD's. It did sell within a week however.

If something makes the display case these days and it happens twice in different AD's then I would suggest it isn't difficult to get hold of or to wait for.

I'm sure stock wise, it may take 6 months on re-order. However I have no idea what the situation is like over in CA.

Not hard to find. I have one on my wrist every day! For myself it trumps any stainless steel Sub and I have previously owned them all. These watches due to the 35K price point are not hard to find in AD's nor in the for sale section of the forum by TS.

Considering you're new to Rolex, you sure enter the game with a bang.... Is this going to be a daily wear or a special occasion/weekend kind of watch? Full gold watches are usually the easiest ones to find since less people can afford them, but it really all depends on your location. Best thing you can do is to call the AD's in your area and ask them. I have not seen the TT version of this watch in a display case, I did however get a call from another AD the other day saying they have both the blue and black one in stock (I was still on the list eventhough I told them to take me off since I already bought it at another AD), but both of them sold the same day. I have seen the full gold version that you're talking about a couple of times in a showcase, but never followed up to see how fast they sold.

So, call the AD's in your area and inquire about it. Since everyone is expecting to see a new Sub next year, I am pretty sure these won't be in production too much longer, so maybe you want to wait it out until the new model comes out, or pounce on the current one if you can't imagine the newer one being any prettier than this one is. In case you haven't heard, they will most likely update the movement to the one that's in the new DJ41's with a 70 hour power reserve compared to the current 48, and there's talk that the lugs will be smaller again, somewhere between the current ones and the 5 digit non ceramic models from the past.

Good luck, hope to see a picture of whatever watch you get on the forum!

If you pay 35k you need your head examined.

Is the reference something you even considered in the first place? If not, don't just buy it because it's available (not a hard to get reference btw), and especially if it is over budget.
You're probably better off just going grey, paying a little extra to get the one you truly want.

What’s a good price for these? The lowest I’ve seen (if I recall correctly) is 30k for NIB

Rolex: Mission Accomplished

The fact that the demand is so great and the distribution is so tight on a $10K reference in steel, that the prospect of spending 3X that to get the "same" watch, just in PM and in this case a blue colorway, is even being entertained simply as a substitution option, is a truly powerful accomplishment.

How do the other luxury watch brands (AP and Patek excluded) even stand a chance?..lol

Idk. But fwiw the best watch out there is the 4500v. So nice.
