SKX: Never ceases to amaze

Been wearing the SKX009 lately. Although its movement is technically outdated compared with recent Seiko divers, and it has been "replaced" by various Seiko 5s, the SKX really is a brilliant piece. I don't know what it is, but some sort of special sauce. For the watch person who is not a Seiko-holic, the SKX could be their one and only Seiko diver.

Every time I wear it, it makes me happy. More than holds its own amongst my other Seikos and usual Swiss suspects. I know the Internet is chock full of folks singing praises of the SKX...this is my contribution to that corpus.

Agreed! The skx series reminds me of the 60's and early 70's VW Beetles. They are cheap to purchase, take a beating, easy to mod w/ aftermarket parts, & run forever.

I third the motion! After a bout of indecision on which watch to wear today, I pulled the SKX 009. Always makes me smile.

Couldn’t agree more.

Also extremely comfortable and works well on leather, steel or rubber.

Unfortunately, Seiko had to kill it to bump upmarket.

The SKX is a great watch and a strap monster.

I have quite a large collection including several brands, and my SKX009 gets the most wrist time by far. Pretty much daily.

Won’t get an argument from me! Love mine.

I have one with the traditional jubilee and all it’s idiosyncrasies, but my other one with an Uncle Seiko solid link President bracelet? Fuhgettaboutit!! It’s the bees knees. What an upgrade and look.

It has more character than any other watch. Forget the price, it just works.

I love mine as well.

I love the slow beat rate, the maxi-dial that reminds me of the old Rolex subs before applied indices, the red text, the butter smooth bezel action, and the overall satisfactory polishing/brushed surfaces.

The only thing I don't like is the short lug to lug combined with the wide diameter makes the watch look like just a circle when viewed from afar. I wish it lugs could've been a bit more balanced but that is nit-picking. On the wrist comfort is amazing though.

Wearing mine right now over my Submariner and DJ36!

My SKX slightly modded with OEM SKX007 insert and aftermarket OEM style black outlined hands. Removed all traces of gold. And on the heavy solid link upgraded bracelet. An absolute pleasure to wear. Hefty, perfect size, love the look, durable, pragmatic features and orange is my favorite color. I think it’s darn near perfect.

Thinking hard about adding an SKX even though I have the SRP777 (Turtle).

I encourage you to get a SKX while you can. I bought an Orange Monster while they were made. I paid a reasonable price. Now that they are discontinued, they cost a fortune.

I love my Turtles, but the SKXs are a little smaller and lighter.

Wore my SKX007 today actually, and laughed a bit because the Isofrane rubber strap that’s mounted to it cost half what I paid for the watch.
Such a great design, and mine keeps great time to boot.

I got my son an SKX009 for his HS graduation... and I've seen him actually wear it a few times. I really hope he keeps this in the family. If he gives it to his future kids I'm OK with that.

This week is my work from home week and mine has been on my wrist all week. I love it.

I tried it on for the first time in The Philippines but they are more expensive there. So, I picked it up when I got home. Though I didn't have it on that trip, it was there I tried it on for the first time. It always reminds me of that trip and will go back with me next time... whenever that finally is.

Certain watches are MUSTS in any collection! The SKX is a must!
No matter if you are a watch hoarder with 40 luxury watches or a 3 watch guy/gal, the SKX has its place in the Watchbox
It’s certainly one of my most “fun” watches and gets most of my weekend wrist time!

Love mine!
One very Seiko thing about mine...take a look at the chapter ring alignment. I bought this brand new, opened the box, and laughed at how bad the alignment was. I had to keep it just because of how off it was, never had a watch make me laugh when unboxing it. Not sure it could get any more off.

Wow! An "error" watch! Probably worth big bucks...or not.
