Decisions: DJ36

Looking at new Rolex to commemorate a special occasion.

I’ve narrowed my options on:
1. SS/fluted jubilee in blue or silver
2. The above in 41
3. TT fluted jubilee in white (or champagne)

I own a SubC no date so black dial didn’t appeal.

I’m not intending to resell but would wear this as a daily.

Passed on a blue DJ36 domed/oyster as it was too close to my aqua terra.
Opinions welcome!

None of them are currently in stock at the ADs locally

41 blue fluted and jubilee! Have both of them - perfect combo! Second choice would be TT with champagne. I saw them both in person and like the blue way more. The TT is not as nice in person as on the website. Let us know!

DJ36 blue

I have the SD43 and GMT. I used to have a DJ41, it didn’t feel right to me compared to a DD40. I find the DJ36 works better in its original design in my opinion.

A 36mm Datejust is the right choice

I concur with this. Fluted, jubilee, blue, 41. Maybe 36 depending on your wrist size.

TT fluted jubilee in 36, if you have a smaller wrist or prefer a more traditional size. 41 if you have a larger wrist. Darker dial colors will make the watch appear to be smaller. I recommend a TT because you have the Aqua Terra.

I had the white, black and blue dial. After owning all of them, the white makes the dial feel larger as it blends with the bezel.

I have a stainless steel

36MM DJ with engine turned bezel and Jubilee bracelet. It is a perfect mate to my all stainless Submariner. You can't go wrong with a DateJust in either size.

Of those options, option 1 with blue dial.

I really wouldn't get a 36mm, you will find it too small and from experience will stop you ever wearing it! please go for a 41

So after due consideration... I tried:

DJ41:

DJ36:

And eventually decided I still wanted to go with the fluted/jubilee bracelet. My AD very generously sourced me this on reasonably short notice.

I wanted a dress watch that I could also size up for my partner so went with the DJ36. I have an Aqua Terra that wears like a large watch. I love it!!! The blue is so mesmerising.

Thank you everyone for your help.

36mm is the right choice and it looks great on you. You should wear 36mm for a week and then go back just for fun and try on the 41mm again and I guarantee 41mm will look and feel way too big.

Definitely try the 36 vs the 41.

The blue is perfection... can't go wrong in any variant.

Thank you. Apologies for the iPhone (first day) photos.

The DJ41 has a long waitlist in Oz ... I passed on it a few years ago (silly me) but I think it will be the DJ36 for me. Small enough to be dressy but the SS/blue is understated enough for daily wear without screaming "TT Rolex".

I'm still wondering re: TT. Saw a beautiful Rose with Sunburst but believe the TT is perhaps best for me in the smaller DJ36 size. I just can't decide on the best dial to go with the TT so will watch and see.

I have an Aqua Terra that wears like the DJ41 so am content not to buy another one that size for now.

But I prefer the enamelled rather than the stark white dial.

The TT DJ41
