Was just shuttled in a new Navigator the other other day and at 6ft was comfortable in the third row. The interiors are incredible.

We chose the Suburban. Bought it new in 2016. I think after TT&L it was right around $73k. It's a fully loaded LTZ with 4x4. We've been on plenty of road trips with the kids in it and it's been great. We have just over 100K miles on it now and it's going strong. Plenty of room for anything you need.

GLE totally redesigned and improved. We just went through this for the MRS. She ended up with a GLC. GLE was a touch too large for her for around town. It came down to the GLE, GLC, and VW Atlas Sport. She felt most comfortable in the GLC. I pushed for the other two....our dealer had a leftover new 2019 GLS that was discounted like 15K, so well within your budget. I assume you could find one of them if you looked.

We checked those out. It is better than the LX570 and GLS, but not as good as Expedition/Navigator or suburban / Yukon XL. I think it comes down to how big your third row passengers are and how long they will be back there.

It’s gonna be picking parents up from airport and shuttling then around with the kids, I think I would rather go bigger but the xc90 is attractive

I thought they looked fantastic as well, however I would have to checkout that whole front seat thing first.

yeah my tacoma slapped very slightly against the center console, it was so annoying, I could see how the padding would make sound

what sets the xc90 from the rest of the competition? Love the way it looks but trying to find the value as I have never seen one in person

Yeah, I would probably have to inquire if they had other options. Much prefer a more solid seat design especially in a car. Those type of seats typically don't age as well and are harder to clean as well.

It’s a Volvo so safety is stellar. They also have a plug-in hybrid option which is neat.

If you’re leery about the navigator seats, maybe cross-check the Expedition Platinum. 95% of the frills for significantly less money.

I just looked at my buddies xlt (?) explorer, ehh, I am guessing the plat gets you a whole lot more.

Yes safety is important

Platinum, at least on the Expedition platform, gets you better leather, massage seats, more safety features, and a whole bunch of other goodies. The Limited properly optioned can get you everything but the massage seats and nicer leather. The Expedition is a major step up from the Explorer. Third row in Explorer is just for little kids. Full size adults can comfortably sit in the Expedition (and even more room if you go for the XL).

yeah I just built one and with the rates they are offering it seems like exp plat is a great value. Looks like a tank too. My parents had a Ford Conversion van that sucked. I am guessing they are a bit better these days?

We’re happy with ours. No issues in over 12k miles. I think you can get 0% right now as well. Certainly worth taking an afternoon to drive that, the XC90 and the GLS before pulling the trigger.

My wife went to bring her GLC43 in for service yesterday. Walked the floor and saw the new GLE63 S in white. Sent me a quick text and she’s already chosen her next one. Now she understands why I was pushing for the GLC63 when we got her the 43.

$126K sticker on it is hefty.

The GLC63 is incredible. I bought one, but sadly it was a lemon after nonstop issues over 6 weeks. Dealer swapped it out for a similar MSRP GLE350. I miss that engine, but the GLE beats it everywhere else. You can see the GLC peeking out behind the GLE in my post above.

Ha! Yes, it's a 350. The inline 4 is surprisingly good. Perfectly adequate for daily driving.

I thought I wrote a reply to this, but I guess I never sent it.
I had the 3 row oversized land barge and discovered it wasn’t the easiest to drive in the city or park and when the opportunity arose to downsize I didn’t hesitate. We never used the 3rd row and often take 2 cars to the beach, etc for convenience anyway.
I downsized to a GLE and I’m very happy with it.

Mercedes E wagon all the way: power, agility, fuel economy, space, 4matic.

I would’ve purchased one but a YouTuber I watch (Hoovies Garage) traded in a newer E wagon for a Range Rover because he had trouble fitting a read-facing car seat into the wagon.

Instead, I bought a 2015 ML250. It’s a diesel! We got a pretty decent deal and I love it!

My wife has had 3 MB GL and then her last was a GLS 450. Always the seven passengers from Mercedes for about 7 years. I got so bored with them that I sold the 2017 and replaced it with an American muscle car SUV. She loves this thing for the last 2 years.

I have to say, I am very impressed with the build quality for over 2 years of ownership. Pretty impressive. It’s a 2018 Dodge Durango SRT.
