A bit of help if possible....
Bought a new Panerai recently (my first) and I’m really enjoying it! Still educating myself about the brand and other models, and I was looking at the difference between a 02392 and a 1392, both current models on the Panerai website.
Both 42mm, black sandwich dial, etc...but difference is the 1392 is the ecru/faux patina dial marker color, with exhibition case back ... and the 02392, is the normal dial marker color, with solid case back. The thing I was wondering, and maybe some experts her can help.. Other than marker/numeral color, both are the same I believe, except the case back. Trying to find out why, but the 02392, when looking to find information, specs, etc...or just want to buy, other than the Panerai website, is like a finding a needle in a haystack. Barely anything out there about this model. Is the the 1392 now available and the 02392 discontinued? Just curious. Any idea or knowledge on this subject? Was wondering the same thing.
What’s odd is if you filter 44mm and automatic the 2392 still shows up. |

I’m not sure, but I “think” the 2392 is the older model without the in house movement and is being phased out. The 1392 is the new model with the in house 9000 series movement. Of the two I would choose the 1392.

I believe, from what I’m learning, this may be the case.

I think it is the opposite of what others have said. The 1392 is the prior iteration of the piece with the in-house movement. The 2392 is the brand new iteration with the OP XXXIV movement that is being used in many of the newer pieces. You can compare it to the older 682 Submersible with the in-house movement (same as 1392) and then the newer 973, which is the same watch with the Richemont movement.
What I can tell you is that the new movement kind of sucks for this price point. I have the 1392 and have had the 682. I have also had the 973 and the 683 - both the newer non-in house movement and they both were not great. No quick set hour, the minute hand often jumped when resetting time and pushing crown back in, both ran at about +11 and neither were very impressive for the money. Sold both the 973 and 683; the in-house P9000 on the 1392 and 682 has been perfection (but be prepared for a loud rotor). Hope this helps! LBH |

the 02392 is the newer version , updated movement and dial .
the 01392 is discontinued and no no longer in production . Difference is polished steel case 01392 vs brushed 02392 with sandwich dial . |

And it looks like they got rid of the faux patina on the dial, which I think is much better overall. Still prefer the 392 of the 3 though.

I contacted Panerai to ask what was the differences between 1392 and 2392. This is the answer i recieved:
Regarding your query, I inform you that this timepiece comprises the calibre P.9010 with a close back case and quick release bracelet like the PAM01392. The main difference between these pieces is the colour of the super luminova. Whist the on the PAM01392 the numerals are beige the new PAM02392 comprises green super luminova. |
