What PM Is Best?

Hi,

I’m contemplating putting in an order for a PM piece for delivery sometime in 2021. I’ve narrowed it down to two choices (I think)...

I currently don’t have a Sub, but expect the new Cermit at some point. I have a SS Daytona 116500LN in my collection.

I strongly prefer a full PM piece as opposed to the Daytona on OF. Not because I don’t like the OF - it’s beautiful and a great watch. But I think the full PM is something better fitting in my collection.

So, I’m interested in hearing from the board what model they prefer, and why:

The sub for me. Would also consider a Day Date too, classic.

That Daytona is the bomb

The only pm daytona I'd buy, it has everything

Thinking of upgrading to that exact from my ss Daytona c white face

Between these two I'd personally much rather have the sub. The all-gold Bluesey is beyond stunning in person.

I have a Batman so I have the GMT complication.

The Pepsi Meteorite doesn’t do it for my tastes (personal preference), and I feel that watch has gotten ahead of itself and isn’t likely an option from my AD anyway.

Out of those two choices it’s definitely the Daytona

Sounds like you have a GMT already but I’m going to ditto the Everose Gold GMT Master II. That piece is absolutely beautiful, and if there’s one PM Rolex I’d get it’d be this one.

I personally don’t like the Daytona in PM unless it has a ceramic bezel, but those are only available on the Oysterflex as you already noted. Daytona PM bezel looks very vintage to me, and it can really get scratched up.

Otherwise the new sub in WG is awesome as well. The watch is amazing, and if you like WG then that’s a good choice. I’d rather not spend the money on WG given I can’t tell the difference between WG and SS, except that it’s heavier which isn’t a plus to me.

Lastly - Everose Gold Skydweller. Never seen one in the metal but looks really nice.

Between those two, I’d go with the sub. That said, I agree with the comments suggesting you look at models outside of your current collection, i.e., DD40 and GMT. A little variety is always nice.

Why no DD40 option? If anything, that's the most common full PM piece. Pure class

Ahhh ok - if you say so. :)

OR get a 116618LB and a DD40. They are both gorgeous

That is a good thought. I'm biased not being a Daytona fan I was ready to say Sub however a Gmtll in RG or maybe better YG since that seems is your preference would really round out your collection and it's fit is between the two as well.

Daytona. That particular one is stunning in person and pairs up well with your stainless version.
