My point was that the 36mm DJ has worked for many decades (not just in 1945), so I always wonder "What has changed?" nowadays. Wrist sizes haven't.

I understand some style changes through the years, like wide jacket lapels and wide ties, bell-bottoms, etc ... But a watch size is different, and is not tied to a specific fashion trend. The 36mm DJ seems timeless and classic, regardless of wrist size.

Still, to each their own. Definitely subjective.

This. I have a fairly big wrist, and can easily pull off a 36 mm DJ. I even go down to 34 with those lovely old Tudors whose lugs make them wear big.

41mm DJ has been in production for 12ish years going strong... it's in their new lineup too. Hasn't gone anywhere. Most other watches in their lineup moving to larger cases too... not a trend anymore but becoming the standard.

Don't get me wrong, I like 36mm for vintage watches but wouldn't buy a modern 36mm for my wrist and overall proportions... I need something more substantial, and it seems so do a lot of others.

One of my favorite references is the Datejust Thunderbird Turn-O-graph... but it just looks dainty on me, and I don't prefer that look.

OP, if you don't have enough affirmative advice by now, I will add my voice to the choir saying that you've found a nice example of the classic silver dial 1601 (one of the more common variants) at a good price. If it appeals to you, you should buy it before someone else beats you to it. Don't dilly dally.

Have a 7.25" wrist and think size is perfect.

Yes, but the 36mm DJ hasn't gone anywhere either ... for 75 years. The 36mm DJ, vintage or modern, has the most DNA of any men's Rolex from the original. That just one reason I love it.
