1680 White Sub. How can a matte dial be too clean?

I was offered this piece. 5mil series.

Case is OK, lugs are still thick and balanced but polished, overall case condition is OK but nothing to write home about.

Dial is a bit worrying for me. It's guaranteed genuine as it's opened by my watchmaker but problem is, it looked brand spanking new. A bit off considering the conditions of the case. I've seen a dial this condition but in an almost NOS watch example.

could it be a service matte dial, if there's such thing back then?

What's your take on what may seemed to be the story for this pristine dial.

Put a photo with hands at 9:15 (seconds hand not covering text on the dial) and a bit more close up.

Looks like a genuine mark III dial to me. I can't see anything wrong with the dial lume based on those photos. Hands could be later but hard to tell.

Sweet watch, but the alignment of your service dial fonts are all slightly different than the OPs.

Sorry can't get more photos at this stage as I haven't pulled the trigger on this.

You may be right. My watchmaker didn't believe it's a service dial too. It looks legit but problem is it looks too clean for the overall conditions of the remaining watch

The dial on your watch appears to be the "toothpaste-looking" service dial.

I see an Mk3 dial. Only version where the C of « Certified » is not exactly below the H of « Chronometer » but slightly right. Plus the angle of the F in « Ft »
Not an expert on how the lume should age but not the first time I see a « Snow White » dial.
I would not disqualify it without further inspection (good macros, lume shot)

It would be more attractive to me with a bit more color on the lume. Sometimes personal appeal is as important as the technical details of originality, etc.

Exactly right Dan. If the dial aged just a bit, this watch would make sense. It's just too clean and white
