RSC or Experienced Watchmaker

Hi Everyone,

I recently acquired a 16760 with original box and paper from a client of mine. This one is special and will be passed down - the watch was originally purchased the year I was born!

I have taken the bracelet apart and cleaned everything with soap and water. Watch looks great and I have no plans on getting it polished or replacing anything aesthetically.

The movement is in need of some work, previous owner said it has been 20 plus years since last service. The bezel also doesn’t click anymore, so I would like to get that fixed.

From browsing the forum, I’ve read mixed opinions on RSC or independent watchmaker for the service I’m looking for. I would love everyone’s input from their experience, thank you.

As long as you deal directly with the RSC you’ll be fine.
They will give you a quotation. Reply in writing what you want them to do and especially what not. RSC does not have respect for vintage so you should be very clear in your instructions.
Added benefit is that you are sure they use OEM parts and additional paperwork for the history.

Some independents are cheaper

Looks like it may have already been to the RSC in the past. Personally, I would just have it serviced by my watchmaker.

In my own case, I have several "custom" Rolex watches (what's available over the counter just doesn't always do it for me), and I've been warned not to send those to RSC.

I have a local watchmaker who has worked for Rolex.
