Longterm Oysterflex users.
Thinking of adding the Daytona OF with champagne dial and black hour markers. The watch looks gorgeous, but wanted thoughts on OF over the long term. Any issues? AD said she hasn’t seen any issues. I was told this is a allocation piece like almost everything so no wait time given.

"IF" you need to have the OF segments changed out <different lengths> to fit you, it is almost guaranteed that the insides of the lugs (and perhaps even the outsides!) will be damaged.
This is VERY common due to the extreme tight fit of the OF with no gaps for access to the spring bar shoulders. For that reason (my 6-1/8" arm would need strap changes) I will never, ever, have anything to do with that lousy OF design.

Once you get the initial sizing sorted, you’ll be off the races! The OF itself is very robust. It’s just a PIA to size at first especially with the Daytona OF models still not having the mini GlideLock. The new (YM40/42 OF, SkyD OF) already have the mini GlideLock to aid in sizing. I can attest to the potential damage on the OF models when swapping the bracelet lengths.

I had my OF Daytona sized by the NYC RSC in 2017. No damage and going on 4 years with no issue.

Anyone having any long time experience on when you will need to change the oysterflex for a new one, due to sun or saltwater etc.?

I've had the watch since Nov 2018, no damage done by the AD (and that's with several strap changes trying to get the right fit) and it looks like it did the day I bought it.
To be honest, though, if I was doing it all over again, and in the market for an OF, I would go after one of the models with the mini-glide lock. Much easier to size and fits/wears better. |

I’ve wondered this as well. Everything I’ve read/heard suggests that OF is resilient and does not fade.
Perhaps over decades it will but hard to tell because it’s only been around since 2015.
