Tudor North Flag officially discontinued

Not sure if anyone noticed this yet or brought it up but the North Flag looks to be officially removed from the Tudor website as of today. As early as yesterday, it was still showing up under the sport section on the website. With all the speculation the last couple of years, it looks like it has finally happened. What a great watch albeit a bit quirky as viewed by some.

Really glad I picked up a new one on bracelet at the local AD early last year. It still gets more wrist time than most in my collection. Hopefully they bring it back with an update in the coming years!

I'm good with the discontinuation and actually would prefer that they not bring it back.

I like the idea of having a watch with a limited run and a limited following.

Good riddance. Not their best work esthetics-wise.

Tudor’s first in-house movement vessel. Will forever be a part of my collection.

I better keep hold of mine then. Mine's actually in getting serviced at Tudor right now, because I kinda/sorta broke the Crystal...guess I'll take better care when it comes back! I'm one of the weirdo's who really likes this watch (it's one of those that looks so much better in the flesh than in photos) and find it wears very nicely for me.

So, what difference does it make to either of you, if you're never going to buy one, anyway.

I know what you mean.

I felt the same way when the 39mm Explorer came out.

Now, all my Rolex watches are "vintage."

Honestly same deal re: 39mm Explorer I. People who like it always have the option, and current owners now have a classic.

I think the MkII will be a real sought-after watch, and maybe the MkI, too.

Lol. The OP posted North Flag is discontinued. I replied coz it's not a huge seller. Whats wrong with that reply?

Also, how do you know I'm not going to buy one. I have posts to show that WTB North Flag! You are reacting touchy as you own one!

No, Maxy.

I could have asked that question of a dozen other members on dozens of other posts and if you read my posts from today, you will see that I've made the same comment in so many words on several threads about watches I don't own and will never own.

Why do people get so bent out of shape when Rolex debuts a model they dislike?

As for my owning a North Flag, you might note that I said early in the thread that I'm glad they discontinued the watch and I hope they never bring it back.

To be honest, Maxy, you've been on my ignore list for at least several years now and I'm only reading your posts today because it's a special day and I want to read as many responses as possible.

Your responses today have confirmed your position on my ignore list and there you will remain, because you are always so predictably negative about everything.

Good day.

Wow. So if we are fan of Rolex we can't get disappointed? I have never used ignore function but good to know about it. In this thread, my comment was hardly negative. Either ways good day.

Yeah, it's always a bust when you have your heart set on a watch and when you try it on, it's just a "meh," or worse.

I remember when I tried on the 116520 with the black dial and it just didn't cut it in terms of dial legibility.

I was practically speechless.

Welcome to the board!

And we had the luck of receiving your first post, too!

I’m a big GP fan, and though I too don’t see a practical point to expressing criticism of a watch I can simply choose not to buy, I understand the impulse to vent anyway; we’re all, to different extents, emotionally (if not financially) invested in thinking and talking about these awesome gadgets. And it probably feels validating to share a strongly felt opinion, especially on a pretty niche topic.

Good to see some life here though!

What I wish Tudor did: bring in a new 36mm Ranger.

I thought they had stopped making them a while ago. Guess not. I’m a fan. The sharp lines, splash of yellow. Only thing that kept me from ever getting one was the integrated bracelet. I wasn’t a bracelet fan until recently. Maybe one of these days I’ll find one for sale or trade.

I concur with both your points, especially the life on the board today.

I can't remember when TRF was as interesting as it is today.

Grady, I’ve always shared your admiration for the amazing, quirky, North Flag. I looked this up because I only heard on Friday that it had been discontinued!

It brought me good luck on Friday. I wandered over to see my fantastic rep, Jason, at the wonderful Shreve & Co. in San Francisco. I was wearing the north flag I’d bought from jason in 2018.

We chatted about it and how much I’ve fallen in love with it and how the Tudor in-house movements seem to be bullet proof. Jason said, “I’ve got something you should see.” He emerged from the vault with a blue black bay 58 fabric nato-like strap. It was fantastic in person and the rest, as they say, is history. I’m adding a Tudor to my humble collection.

And it was all because I happened to be wearing the amazing North Flag.

It’s a great watch, and there’s really nothing else like it. It wasn’t really on my radar until it was offered to me in a trade and I went for it. Enjoyed it for two years and then moved it on and and am sorry I did.

It is my chunkiest watch but it wears super well. Very nicely designed and the display case back is a lot of fun.

A huge difference in the new black bay 58 is that it’s 39mm and much slimmer. It fits a lot like my 37 rhodium YM.

I mention this because if you get a chance, try a north flag in person. I did so with the blue pelagos, which I’ve loved but it overwhelmed my skinny wrist. The NF works out nicely and the blue BB 58 fits like a dream.

It was never on my radar and is quite a departure from the styles in my collection. However, my Mom gifted it to me last September. I kept an open mind and love it. She had a stroke on Jan 2, so I hopped the next flight to her and wore it along her side for her final 5 days taking care of her.

Because of that, this is one of my most sentimental watches. I will never let it go.
