5270P being discontinued?
Saw this on WatchRookie's IG yesterday when he reposted a dm.
Has anyone else heard the same story? Everyone thought the 5270P would be a short production run when they were first introduced in 2018, it seems reasonable for pp to discontinue this legendary piece next year. Not sure what will happen to the 5270J and the 5270 line, will the 5270J also be a short production run like the 5970J? Will PP introduce the next gen PCC at next basel |

A great watch - but….
The 5270P is a gorgeous watch BUT it is not an auto winder which means that unless one remembers to wind it every day-ish then a calendar reset is required. This put me off. For an every day wearer or a person who likes winding up watches every day - and never skips the task - then no problem. |

Oh dear that's very bad if true. I do not have the opportunity to save up for this GOAT yet.

Agree, it rules it out for me, which is a shame as in every other way, it’s perfect! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It’s a beautiful piece but I tend to like my watches not so busy and more wearable every day ie nice slim 3940 for a perpetual calendar. If want a manual chrono I’d wear the 5170p or 5070. Perhaps when they make a slimmer perpetual calendar chrono will be in the market!

I’m no insider or expert but I have heard 3 year run for both P and J. I hope that is not accurate though.

5270P (salmon dial) is a keeper. Hope to receive it before its no longer available.

It's my grail watch, but equally I can also continue to live without dropping £150K on a watch that I would have to keep on top of maintaining every day.

5270 is a great reference in following the long tradition.of manual wind PCCs. Patek has never made a self-wind PCC and probably never will. Just as the 5170 series has been discontinued to make room for the 5172 series, I am sure the 5270 will be eventually discontinued. As to when it will be discontinued, we will have to wait and see.

They need to get its replacement and its production numbers perfect from the outset IMO And the design philosophy will be critical too. Will they constrain the size and go for a classical timeless design or will it grow to +42mm with new 'modern' dial and colour combinations. If Thierry Stern tries to lure in more of the 'cool crowd' and then compounds the problem by making loads of them, I think I'll be done with the brand to be honest, and will buy only from the back catalogue. |
