Can anyone give me some information on spider dials, is this flaw something "collectable", I am curious as I came across a beautiful example, but do not know enough about it. it is a serial 8... from 1984, white gold surround tritium indices. Anyone out here with some knowledge would be much appreciated.

They are popular among some collectors. Others don’t like them. On balance, I’d say most people would not pay a premium for a spider dial.

It’s anyone’s guess as to whether they will stay popular, long term.

Really up to you if you like it or not.

Looks like the responses so far are spot on. If you like them, find yourself one and enjoy it. Personally I've noticed that these defective dials have a small following. Most vintage/ neo vintage collectors prefer a nice correct dial vs these cracked, defective dials.

personally much prefer a smooth glossy dial without crackling, and I wouldn't say it's broadly collectable. But if you don't mind it go for it.

Another thread covers the issue with spider dials. That is, these are dials which are actively degrading. Im not sure who would want to buy a watch based solely on this. However, you can probably buy a replacement dial if it got really bad. I'd be more worried about all the debris which might get into the movement via the date window.
