The DJ is a great watch and is a classic in all configurations. I would figure it out and get the watch. It appears to be about the money and the fact that it is unexpected. OK, so are a lot of other things that come along. The DJ is an asset and can easily be traded or sold should you decide without much or any loss in the current market. I hope you decide to go get it and do it now as it will be gone. I have a DJ II and really like it. Good luck.

Only you will know if it's "worth it".
Classic and great reference! |

FYI, the DJ41 is selling over retail in many parts of Asia, especially the blue dial. If it’s not a huge financial burden, I would jump on it. I chose the rhodium with fluted bezel and jubilee over the blue. It’s an awesome watch and I prefer it to any black subs.

On the other hand, if it means putting off restorations on an old Ferrari that you can just do later, go for it. If it means not adding to your wine collection until next year, go for it. If it means waiting to joining a country club until summer, go for it. |

Pass on it, if you have not budgeted for it. These will be available when you can easily swing it.

If it’s a watch you like, then sure, buy it.
As to whether the Datejust is worth it or not to a non-flipper like yourself, then thats a big YES. A lot of people here have good sized collections, including me, and that collection has a good number of DJ’s in it. It’s not all about the sports watches. |
