mint nautilus (or similar) vs. computer keyboard

dear board members,

does or did anybody of you use a minty nautilus, AP, or similar piece, for daily work on a computer keyboard?

how long did it take until you got your first scratches?

and what's your general attitude towards this problem?

should one just mentally write off the "mint" premium and be done with it and stop worrying? or is there some middle ground that you take, ie. only take it with long shirt sleeves for protection etc.?

I mostly use external keyboards so it’s not an issue at all. If you can only use a laptop, I’d buy some microfiber stickers for the palm rest area.

I found the long sleeve shirt caused just as many micro scratches to the polished surfaces. It’s not a Patek thing it happens on all watches with polished surfaces. I’d just wear the watch and don’t think about it, unless you plan to sell it soon.

Totally correct. I short sleeve only for a while if I want to keep the watch in pristine condition as long as possible.

Most of my scratches are acquired from just daily random stuff. Only god knows how many scratches my royal oaks gotten from airplane seats. Sucks getting scratches but what can you do, I got into this hobby because I like wearing something nice and special.

More seriously, I wear it with short sleeves, long sleeves, swimming trunks, anything, as it always looks good. But I am trying to avoid banging it up unnecessarily. Laptop hasn't been a problem. More afraid of doors swinging into it or a garbage can closing on it which happened to another watch.

Scratches happen naturally. We assume people buy watches to wear. I do.

I don't worry at all about scratches - just like I don't get stressed when I get a rock chip or a little door ding on a nice car. They are to be used and enjoyed. At service, if you wish, the service agency can return to "as new".

actually i worked the last three days with the watch on my wrist and it was really no issue at all.

And to my surprise, because it's such a slender watch case and thin bracelet, it appears to me even better suited, and less likely to cause issues, than a larger watch like e.g. a Submariner...

I think you're misinterpreting this comment because, basically, that's solid advice. I have a Rolex 1665 from 1979 in original condition and I'm afraid to wear it because anything I do to damage it will be expensive and a pain in the butt to repair. I love it, and I keep it on my desk, running, and I wear it around the house.
My 5711/1a I wear hiking in the mountains because it's all scratched up, anyway, and there's a certain je ne sais quoi to wearing it the way Patek intended.

well i have already written in a comment earlier that i use the watch now happily everyday without problems. so what's the point of the comment at all. sorry i simply have no patience for this sort of passive aggressive attitude.
