Here is a warning to all my TRF friends…
I used to be a cocky, self-centered, egotistical, Brazen FIGHTER PILOT. Things the last few years have been exceptionally difficult, and my spirit became somewhat timid. In the last eight days, I have had three incredibly positive and life changing events. Here is the warning….. That Cocky Fighter Pilot is coming back… |

Congratulations, Paul. I don’t have anything new to add to all of the wise words already posted here.
Gratitude is the key to happiness. I think you know this. You have a lot of friends here on TRF, so I’m so glad you posted. Should we be posting a link to “Danger Zone” from Top Gun? |

Holy Crap!!!!! I just received a text from a woman I have been… uhm… encouraging… suggesting… (begging) to go out with me; she said … yes, dinner next week. (Insert wide-eyed surprise emoji here). Wow…. Persistence pays off I guess… (or the begging did). This good luck streak can not be happening!!!!!!

Paul - You deserve everything that's coming your way lately and I am so happy for you.
You've been very honest about what has troubled you over the years, and if it is any consolation to you, your postings have at least help me to understand something I had very little knowledge in. It has made me more symaptahic and compassionate to a dear friend who also battles everyday. Keep the streak going my friend. |

If it's been a long time since you've been on a date, here's a reminder:
1] God gave Man two ears and one mouth. You want to listen twice as much as you speak. 2] Women want you to be interested in what is important to them. They already know what is important to you. |

As a son of a Gulf War vet with some lingering issues, I know from my Dad's experience how tough dealing with the VA can be.
I'm glad to hear a success story. Thank you for your service to our country! |

'Ware, Paul! She may ask you a stream of seemingly innocuous questions to keep you talking. You may discover too late it was a test!

Paul, when it happens to me, I remember that I did not do it. My higher power did. I do things to get in position but the really big gifts are from another. Enjoy it and then keep doing what you are doing with the right attitude. You seem to have it down. Let this happen and then help another, when you can.

I own my own mortgage company and I work with a lot of veterans. I can't even begin to tell you how many vets have told me horror stories about working with, actually fighting with, the VA to get disability benefits or other benefits. Many clients have spent years (years!) fighting with the VA just to get the benefits that were due to them. Not over and above, just the benefits they earned. Countless doctors, visits, letters, phone calls, emails... It's like the sky opens up and angels from heaven sing when they finally received the letter that their benefits were granted.
I have a client who served his 6 years in the marines and when the VA changed over to the first version of the online portal, many reservists and national guardsmen and women didn't have their records transferred over. My client was one of them. We called offices all over the place and he finally got a colonel out in Langley, VA to intervene and call down to a base somewhere down south, where another colonel was able to help look up his original service records and get copies so we could get him a certificate of eligibility to do his VA loan for his new house. While he was working on that (it extended the purchase by about 2-3 weeks) the listing agent said she completely understood and shared her own personal horror story. Her deceased husband was a decorated army veteran and served during Vietnam. He retired as a full colonel and spent his last years in retirement continuing to work with vets here in the community. When he passed, he was eligible for a full military funeral process with honor guard and burial here at the military cemetary. When she contacted the VA to report his passing, they said they had no record of him ever serving and they created major roadblocks instead of being compassionate. It took weeks while she fought with the VA and didn't have time to actually grieve. She finally contacted our US Senator, Amy Klobuchar, who personally got involved to help resolve it and in the end, Senator Klobuchar even attended the funeral. Based on my experiences, whatever good news you received probably took many months, if not years, to finally get. Congratulations and way to persevere! Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk |
