Want to add older Seamaster 300M. Suggestions???
Hey guys.
I am wanting to pick up an older blue wave Seamaster 300M. I have a Peter Blake, blue and black versions of current 300M currently, along with a few other Omegas. I can’t decide. Would you all recommend the 2531.80.00 or the 2220.80.00, and why? I know one of the biggest, aside from dial differences, would be the co-axial movement in the 2220.80.00. Just can’t decide which would be the better long term piece. Thanks! Look forward to hearing opinions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have the Bond 2220.80 for almost 10 years now, so you are not gonna hear any other from me. I selected this model because of the unique red line on the dial and co-axial movement. Never been happier.

I also have the 2220.80. My first luxury watch purchase and still one of my favorite watches.

I like the 2531.80 more between the 2...probably because I liked Brosnan's role better especially with Goldeneye when it was current back in the days. The watch itself is better also in my eyes with the thinner profile and easier to service ETA movement. Because of my personal sentiments for Goldeneye, I decided to keep the 2541.80 as my one and only but that's a quartz.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I kind of lean toward the 2531.80 because it was my first nice watch. I bought it the first half of my intern year of residency and bought my dad a Peter Blake Quartz (he had horrible Rheumatoid Arthritis that prevented him from winding his watch, unscrewing crown, etc). I traded my watch years ago, but inherited my dad's after his passing in 2020. I will never part with it, and it is engraved on the back from the day I gave it to him and his initials.
Brosnan was the one, and Goldeneye the film, that got me into watches. So, the 2531.80 has that special place in my heart. But, the co-axial escapement and the red lettering is SUPER attractive for the 2220.80. Look forward to hearing some more ideas on the matter. J |

I have had both but currently only own the 2220.80.
Things on 2531.80 I Like better: Blue dial is a truer blue. (2220.80 has a greenish tinge) Thinner profile movement Takes a beating and cheaper to service. Things I like better on 2220.80: white gold indices and logo Longer hands Kind of even imo, both great watches. |
