Winding Watch

I haven't been wearing my Rolex often recently. Do you need to wind it every so often, or it's okay to leave it be and just wind it 30-50x when you wear it if it hasn't been worn for a while? Thanks!

Wind it when you're ready to wear it.

You can’t over wind it and the movement is more accurate with a full power reserve. I encourage you to wind it any time you feel you are not active in a day to top off the power reserve.

Just wind it when you plan to wear it. No need to keep it running when you aren’t wearing it and doing so just shortens the intervals for which you’ll need to service it. I didn’t wear two of my watches for 18 months during the pandemic and no issues at all when I took them back out. I’d thought leaving them alone and not wearing them would cause issues, but my watch guy assured me that wasn’t the case.

If left stopped for more than a month or so then a small wind just to start the movement will be fine. When you manual wind its important to wind clockwise only around like you say 30-50 full crown turns to fully wind mainspring.
