Way Way Under the Radar

Recently sold my Vacheron Overseas Blue dial 3 hand for a very nice profit.
To be honest I was never a huge fan except for the exceptional blue dial. Never contoured to the wrist very well 6.75

With some of the profits I purchased a Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Gt. I must say this is one hell of watch. Exquisite fit and finish, outstanding movement and a unique and comfortable bracelet. Those of you have experienced Parmigiani know what I mean.

I think it's a reasonable and comparable move if anything maybe even a little higher horology and detailing/finishing. The Overseas is a great watch and I was a fan as well of both chrono and 3 hand versions which were available for nice discounts, but the hype is way too much and it's a good idea to cash out if your not feeling it. I'm very curious to handle a Parmigiani in person.

That's the way to do it - no need to demonize anyone for taking a profit on something that's not quite right. Congrats, Tonda is a sick piece.

Good move I think although I have yet to see the Parmigiani IRL.

The current Gen VC Overseas 3 hander did not work on my 6.6 inch wrists either. One big and bulky piece for the basic sports watch it is. The looks left me wanting as well. It is up there when it comes to detail and finish but as a whole it didn't look as elegant and refined as some of the competition.

Parmigiani is one of the nicest watches out there right now. Love the chrono and annual calendar

Congrats on the move. I respect the VCO but don't love it; the Tonda GT, at least from pictures - seems a slam dunk.

Enjoy it in good health.

Congrats on the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Gt! Love their care and handcrafting efforts. i hear customer service is excellent too. Agree both brands are still a bit 'under the radar', yet Bvlgari's Octo are coming on strong with true enthusiasts.

Nowadays am ignoring the hype and simply using my eyes... and heart.

Congrats again on the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Gt

I feel like the Octo Finissimo is the best value sports watch in the market today. It goes toe to toe with my Overseas for half the retail price and about 20% of the secondary market price. If I could only keep one, it would be the Octo for me.

Finishing is significantly lower imho having also owned both but I’d rather buy another OF chrono than VCO and that says it all.

I have the 103431 Octo with the satin polished stainless steel. To me, the mix of brushed and polished surfaces on the Octo is pretty spectacular and the Octo movement is more interesting to look at. To be fair, I’m a sucker for a micro rotor though, I like to see the whole movement. The VC nails the little details more and I ultimately agree it is the better finished watch, but I think it’s a lot closer than the price would suggest.

Wholeheartedly agree. Diminishing returns in this hobby are astounding lol

May I ask how the finishing looked? Is it comparable to AP open work? I can’t really tell from most of the pictures I’ve seen.

It’s in the same ballpark in terms of finishing, but different aesthetically, and probably not quite on the same level of finishing talent as AP. It would be hard for me to compare, they are so different. But I can say I really liked it overall. Here are a couple more pics if it helps.

Thank you for the insights. Appreciate the photos as well. It’s definitely a good looking execution. Part of me feels like it’s a bit steeply priced but I am sure they will have no issue moving them.

I really like these. I wish there was a dealer less than 5 hours away… closest is in Dallas.

Does selling the VCO jeopardize your relationship with the boutique?
