I spent some time doing some online research, and settled for the stainless steel daytona with black dials (I don't have facebook or instagram and don't follow the trends I just love the engineering behind the movement).

Fast forward to today, I've been to 5 countries, visited a dozen of store and it's been a huge disappointment, I'm headed back home empty handed. My local AD told me they receive about 5 pieces a month, but in the meantime, they add 50 folks to the waitlist.

So the question here is, what are my options?

- can I enroll on a waitlist with an out of state AD? Do I need to be present?

- how about AD from different countries? Once available, can I buy over the phone and have them ship it?

- I don't have anything else to purchase at the moment (maybe more watches in the future), so I'm not sure how to build a relationship with an AD

- 2nd hand is out of the question

Noobs alright

Go grey then post the pics. Anything else is just you wasting your own time. Sort of like visiting a dozen ADs is 5 countries

And, if prices have actually softened then your timing is impeccable

Go get the watch, you will be glad you did. For the engineering behind the movement! You’ve already waited a whole month

If you're old and rich, like a lot of posters here, just purchase it on the grey market and don't give it a second thought.

+1 on getting a Speedmaster. Great watch full of history and great engineering. I have one as well and it's actually better than the Daytona in many regards.

Don't waste your time on an AD, they are useless. Just pay more and get it tomorrow; I'd like to think your time is far far more valuable then kissing some loser ADs @#$. And this is coming from someone who has bought everything from an AD ... should tell ya something.

Look at other different brands or go grey.

Chances of scoring a kidney are better than getting a Daytona at an AD. Unlesss you spend 100K on pearls/diamonds and make the Daytona a condition of sale. Then watch how quickly it comes out.

I have seen it happen with my own eyes.

BUY UNWORN ! from a grey ! Life is TOO SHORT ! Its NOT worth the anxiety and time waiting for an AD. Think of ALL the money and time you have spent so far !!! BUY FROM A REPUTABLE GREY ! Get it on your wrist NOW and start enjoying it ! Dont play these AD games !
If not.... JUST forget the whole thing.

just my 2cents.

I’ve got one and I also have a new Speedmaster Pro, which I enjoy every bit as much. There are a lot of great watches out there that don’t carry all the “baggage” that goes along with getting a Daytona.

The irony of the Daytona is the baggage doesn’t end once you get it. It has turned into such a “bro” watch and source of attention (including from people who’ll take your hand off to get yours) and uncomfortable conversations with friends and co-workers that I simply don’t enjoy wearing the watch anymore. I’ll probably never sell it, but I don’t love it the way I’d like to. Hopefully when the madness ends and these things go back to being watches and not trophies that will change.
Lot of truth here.

Daily search on eBay, Chrono 24, or other sites.

Dedication will pay off the search time, and be ready with the money to pull the trigger and close quickly.

There's plenty of new, NOT secondhand, available at market price.
Beats the heck out of spending tens of thousands traveling to multiple countries!

Either go grey or look at other brands

The only thing a Daytona has over a Speedmaster/Zenith/Tudor is the fact that its a Rolex and the others arent

You can pick up something with far more history and engineering behind it, much easier and at a fraction of the Market price of a Daytona
But, if you want that Crown, it comes at a cost
