IMHO The quality and feel of this piece on the wrist is fantastic and i love the looks!, if my heart ruled head I'd of pulled the trigger!, but would really appreciate informed opinions from my more knowledgeable peers on VC the brand on movements,quality and reliablity and standing in the horology world, couldn't get past comparing it with a daytona and the substanial price difference, but am i missing something!!!!!!!!!

I have been feeling that watch for the last little while too. IMO VC is one of the best companies out there. I feel it ranks higher than Patek and AP (strictly my feelings though) as I can see quality everywhere but at the same time in most of their pieces I can still feel/see the robust strength of a Rolex oyster

Agree a fine brand up there with the best today,the only thing that spoils that watch for me is the bezel.Yes I know its the brand emblem,but for me a plain fully round bezel,but its certainly unusual.

Now Steve what Daytona are you talking about, any SS from Zenith on,would not be on my list at all.But if I did have to choose think it would be the VC,although both fine movements in every way.The date complication just swings it over the disliked bezel for me.

Well, VC is considered by many to be part of the top 3 - PP, AP, and VC are normally cited as the "Big 3". Not all agree with that of course, as I would personally have a hard time discounting Lange when citing the top 3 large houses, then of course there are the small independants........but no doubt VC is near the top. VC is the oldest continuous producing watch house there is. Although BP claims 1735 they basically went out of business for a while so did not produce any watches in that time.....ahhhh, marketing.

The movement in that watch is based on an F. Piguet 1185, but it is modified by VC (not sure exactly what is done though).

The fit and finish are what you would expect of a watch of this level - superb.

Personally I like VC as a house very much, but they are one of those companies that I can never find just the right watch. There is always some detail that spoils the overall package for me. It's a company I want to like very much, but no model has hit me just right yet. I'm not personally a chronograph person, but there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that this watch is head and shoulders above the level of a Daytona.

Just as the gentleman above posted, VC is considered to be part of "the big three", PP, AP, and VC. Vacheron Constantin is the oldest watch company that has been in continuous operation for 250 years. They will service every watch they have ever made, according to the new CEO. Their style is understated--they don't brag much, but yet they produce the world's finest watches. There is really no comparison between a Daytona and the VC Overseas, when it comes to finishing and other hand made details. Rolex doesn't really compete in the same market as VC. The Daytona is a fine chronograph, don't get me wrong, but the VC is a work of art.

We are fortunate in that we happen to be living during a revival of mechanical watches (which are only 2% of overall watch production in the world according to one of the watch magazines this month) and there are actually several brands which are doing really great work in addition to the "Big Three" like Breguet, Blancpain, Ulysse Nardin, Roger Dubuis, Philippe Dufour, F.P. Journe, Svend Andersen, Jaeger LeCoultre, and many others too. If you get the Overseas, you will see how much care they put into the watch just from the silky smooth touch of the pushers. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

That VC is absolutely superb, Steve. Some great shots of a stunning Chrono. To be perfectly honest, it does outdo the Daytona any day of the week. And, coming from me, that says a helluva lot!!

Nice piece, but agree with Peter.. i think the bezel looks out of place on something so elegant
