Anne Heche dies at 53 from injuries in L.A. car crash

**Updated**

Anne Heche, the Emmy- and Tony-nominated actor whose work in “Six Days Seven Nights,” “Another World” and dozens of other projects dovetailed with a groundbreaking romance with Ellen DeGeneres has died. She was 53.
Her son eldest son, Homer Laffoon, confirmed her death in a statement to The Times Friday.

RIP

Last Friday, Heche was in a car that was traveling at a high speed when it ran off the road and collided with a residence that became engulfed in flames, Los Angeles Police Public Information Officer Jeff Lee told CNN at the time.

One week after the crash, Heche is "brain dead" but remains on life support, according to a statement from her family and friends and shared with CNN by their representative.

Under California law, due to her condition, Heche is considered legally dead.

Heche has not been taken off life support so they have time to determine if she is a match for organ donation, according to the representative.

I take that road to my office (Walgrove). Last Friday I was heading in to meet a family and there were literally a dozen fire trucks and more cops than I’ve ever seen in one place. I didn’t realize that was the accident she had caused. Very sad for her and her family. Thank God no one else was hurt. It was insane how much damage was done.

Yup, someone's Ring video capture her car speeding down the street (right around 56 seconds mark).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0M9J8QAMfA

And that was on the same day that big crash happened on La Brea & Slauson and 5 people died, I believe.

Be safe out there. It's crazy the way people drive these days. I was taught not to drive when you're emotional. Driving is supposed to relax you but these days, it just agitates me more and more.

RIP. I wonder what was going on with Anne that day. It’s a miracle no one else was killed.

Yeah Larry. Not sure if you saw this one. Below is the video of another crash that happened on the same day (La Brea & Slauson) captured on a gas station surveillance cam where 6 lives perished in a matter of seconds.

Yes, it’s amazing Ring cam video with the whoosh followed quickly by the sound of the impact a few seconds later. RIP - something had to be causing her to drive erratically.

I’m not an accident reconstruction investigator, nor a mathematician. But using the parked cars as reference lengths along the street curb, the field of view seems to be about 80’ and her car covers that distance in about 1/2 sec. So…my guesstimate is just under 110mph.

Another video before the Ring video showed her having contact with other objects/vehicle earlier and then speeding away.

Most disturbing was the helo footage of her extrication. The video also showed her forcefully rising up from the gurney as they loaded her into the paramedics transporter.

Warning: This is raw video and is disturbing…

This, after being trapped for quite awhile engulfed in flames, was shocking. Something was definitely wrong in her system - so sad for her, the victims, and her family.

Headline should be:

Entitled Hollywood “star” — best known for sleeping with known bully Ellen DeGeneres — uses cocaine, gets behind the wheel of a car, and drives into someone else’s home at a high rate of speed.

Very sad. Obviously she was having some kind of mental breakdown which was reported she'd been having lately. Besides the drug use.

It's hard to feel sorry for people who are flying down the street like that putting people at risk...but.....

Just a sad situation all around.

I feel for her family and the family whose house she crashed into.

Her actions could have been catastrophic for numerous innocent motorist, or pedestrians.

A video taken earlier on the day of her crash shows that she narrowly missed a pedestrian while racing down an alleyway.

She was a master of her own destiny, and for that I do not have any sympathy.

I hope you're treated with more compassion than you seem unwilling or unable to offer others.

While a bit harsh, they certainly do seem to spin this as if it wasn't her own doing. "Was in a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed." Rather downplayed. "Actress high on cocaine driving her luxury vehicle 90+mph through a residence" is more apt. The reality is, the world is safer without her. Quite sad as she could've left quite a legacy, instead went out in a pathetic crash. A healthy reminder for me to stay sober.

Seriously?
Major difference I see in the abhorrent and ludicrous speeding accidents referenced here on that day is one person is famous.
What if the residents of that house minding there own business had been burned alive do to that drug filled actress?
Both perpetrators should be equally condemned and not sympathized over for the irresponsible repercussions that resulted.

There is no value in speaking ill of the dead. She is gone and beyond influence from the living.

The people around her failed her. They knew of her troubles, yet allowed her to be out of control in public, rather than under the care of professionals. Any ill words should be focused in their direction, not hers IMO.
