Agree with this and if traveling with my Rolex I never take it off for the entire duration of the trip.

Pickpocketing is one of the bigger crimes in Italian cities specifically, especially around Tourist areas. If you wear a Rolex, I would certainly recommend wearing one with a safety clap that locks and not the simple flip clasp on the Day Date. Some of the pickpockets are so good a what they do, you will never even feel it come off the wrist. I think most native Italians would give you similar advice.
