Can this serial # be right in my Tudor Jumbo?

Hello,

I recently posted about my newly aquired Tudor Jumbo's 7836 bracelet, and the overall census was that it was legit. Well, today I go to check the year of my watch by looking at the serial # and I find a strange layout.

Please look at the attached image and tell me if this is a legit case or not. There doesn't seem to be enough #'s.

Thank in advance for your help!

More pics.

According to this website, your watch is missing a digit.. How about a few more pictures of the case and dial, movement, etc...

http://www.lunaroyster.com/rolex-and...erial-numbers/

My Tudor 7020 had the following stamped on it:

684xxx serial...it was made before 1970...

reference:

620000 .............................1968
680000 .............................1969
740000 .............................1970

Thanks for the reply. I agree it's missing a digit but does the engraving look right and does the missing digit mean it's fake?

I can only add 1 pic at a time with my iPhone, but here is a pic if the model #.

My 7020/0 serial is 685XXX. Five digits is troubling.

Well, it appears to have the right 'DNA' to my eye, despite the number issue.

OK - we are talking a 75304 - later 5 digit model with a 5 digit serial.

Your watch is is an early 80s after the serial rebooted. This is not uncommon - some snowflakes are in the same serial range.

Without a better photo of the serial #s the fonts are inconclusive but I think you are fine. What movement is in it?

I really appreciate your insight! I never knew anything about a # reboot, and is there a way to date these watches? Also, it has a ETA 2824 inside according to the seller and attached pic.

It's fine...

as John says - it's early in the restarted serial range. I've had a few from the early 80s in this range.

Enjoy!

Ross :-)

Nice watch! Super classy, and large for the time. As others have said, 5 digits is fine. My 74100 is 620xx.

Thank you all for sharing your knowledge!! I really enjoy learning these nuances.

I love the watch and since I am a big guy the 38mm is the perfect non sports model size for me!

Hi there

Looks good to me, as said above thats a 80s tudor jumbo, my 74100 has the same type of 5 digit serial number. The case back is also the 80s design and inscription. same design as my 74100 jumbo and 94613 day date

Looks a beautiful model, i need to get my 74100 on my wrist again, but it needs a new crystal as mine has cracked

cheers james

Anyone know where to get hands for the Jumbo? Mine got screwed up during a service and I've been sad ever since.

I can see this was a long time ago, but I have been also confused by my 5 digit 74100 and stumbled across this thread whilst doing a search. My Tudor 74100 also has the serial 620XX and was verified by the new eBay guarantee service, so this has really helped get rid of my extra doubts as there's others out there with the same confusion :)
