Hello everyone, I found that the font on the 1803 Buckley dial is odd. The dash in the middle of the Day Date looks like the letter "I", The back looks like it has been recently treated, the color of the scar is too new, but other place is quite beautiful, is this dial a reprint?
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I've googled and it seems like some dials look like this too? But because the resolution of the pictures on the Internet is not good, it is difficult to identify, I would like to ask for your help. |

I do not believe it is a reprinted dial as it looks authentic.
I have one that is identical down to the font styles including the dash between Day-Date.

My dial is old and beat up around the edges so I don’t know for sure if it was ever played with.
I would think both yours and mine would have to have been reprinted by the exact same person if they are not authentic though. The dial fonts look the same from the photos. ![]() ![]()

I would suspect that the reason for the new-looking spot is that on a Buckley, the only “furniture” is the coronet, so that is the only place on the back which was ever ground at the factory. The rest of the brass still has its original oxidation (or scale or whatever).

No the Pie Pan dials for early 1800 Day-Date 1555/1556 movements did not have dial feet as they had a snug fit around the circumference of the movement and was only stabilized once the movement got mounted inside the case.

Everything fine. Pregnant lower paint on ends of Roman numerals is well shown on your macro photo. Usual feint dial spotting is apparent and the obligatory lume plot dissapearance is also common - and best if all in-situ or none in-situ ✓
