Came across this site for the first time last night and have already spent way too much of my Friday viewing posts :).

I am looking at purchasing a SS/Pt YM 16622 within the next few months. I am not a first time Rolex owner but currently do not own one. First and last one was a white face Explorer II that I traded for a car. Wish I would have kept it now.

I do have some questions. My local AR is full of people who don't seem to know half of what I do about the YM (which is scary) and even carry "new" YMs without the engraved bezel. I am considering an online purchase to save some money and the lack of value I see in my local AR.

I have read some recent posts about new buckles but not sure if that applies to YM (I think the posts I read were regarding Daytonas). To my knowledge, the most recent version I could get would be a 16622 V serial, correct? Is there a new buckle within the V serial that I should be looking for to make sure I get the latest?

Great board so far, look forward to many more posts!

Hi Brady,

Welcome to TRF

Its worth looking through the review section, I'm sure there are a review here and there on the Platty YM, if not pop a question in the general, we have many members who own that very same Rolex

Glad you found us

Enjoy,

Dave.

Welcome

The "V" serial is the latest known serial number. So if you can find one of those then you can't go wrong.

I don't know for sure about the new clasp, if that is applicable to the YM might be my mistake.

The white dial EXII was my first Rolex and I sold that and got a Cartier. Anyway, it was an experience. Good luck with your search for your YM, and I'm sure you will find a wealth of information here

Welcome, Brady.

Yes, I believe that the V series YM's have the updated bracelet and clasp as with the GMT.
