We won’t know the “legacy” until many years from now. Until then, I’ll just keep enjoying mine.

I think the 114060 classic sub was extra special.

I personally love the Supercase as it gives the watch a presence while ostensibly retaining the classic 40mm diameter. The 20mm bracelet is the perfect width as it's exactly half the case size (this is always a "golden dimension" IMO), and the clasp is beautifully proportioned - not too wide. I also find it superbly comfortable - it's got no downsides IMO.

The 11 series also represented a number of firsts for the Sub line - ceramic bezels, solid bracelet links, milled clasps, etc. It look the workhorse (and I'm afraid to say, outdated) 5 digit and propelled it into the 21st century.

Add to that the 3135 movement, which I personally think is the pinnacle of performance, robustness and serviceability, and the 11 series is the greatest Sub ever.

(I know I'm going to be in the minority here as lots of people had an issue with the Supercase, but I'm a proud 11 series advocate! )
Totally agree! I've had mine for just over five years, absolutely love it.

I think the 11 series will be coveted over the 12 in years to come. The bracelet is too wide and that damn clasp takes up my whole wrist! And the fact is a 41mm is truly disappointing.

116610LN Was my first Rolex. Didn’t leave my wrist for 5 years. Just love it. It’s taking a back seat to my Pepsi at the moment, but it’s just a great workhorse.

Love this so much! The same, yet so different. Imagine if the Bluesy was full YG. Ohhhhh, and KBM's Smurf, so damn nice. What a gorgeous photo.

I feel you on all of these points….and won’t ever replace my 2019 114060 with a newer model.

I love the 5 digits too so will likely add one of those in the future.

This series has a lot of special watches. For me I think it is the most purchased series.

The picture of that Smurf makes me want to own one immediately. I have seen one in the metal and it was very nearly irresistible.

Where's my self control when I most need it? I must find some work to get on with and close this bloody window.

I know the feeling! The 116619LB is the only PM piece I've ever truly lusted after.

Yes the smurf and the 126719BLRO would be the only 2 I'd need, until then its hoard, hoard hoard

Add the better 3135 movement too. This will make the Hulk one of the most desired references in the Rolex modern lineup, even if Rolex released the green dial and bezel on the Sub again.

as the owner of almoust all submarines in the last 30 years I can say that 114060 is aesthetic worst (for me) as well as the 996 model Carrera

I never saw one in person until I as out at our vacation spot two years ago this month. After seeing it I knew it was a must have. Fast forward ~6 months and I made a trade and added a few bucks.

100% worth it. It is such an awesome piece.

My feeling is the blocky lug design is often overblown. I still find it to be a perfectly pleasant watch on the wrist. I took a 114060 in on a trade a few years back with the intention of selling, and it has only grown on me since. I have a 14060M as well, which provides a nice balance, but the 11 Sub is overall a very well considered watch, imo.

I like the 12 series as well, in the few times I've tried them on, and would never come down on anyone for preferring that watch, but I haven't felt compelled to make the swap.

I don't get the 996 comparison personally (assuming that's meant as a put down?), that's a design easy to spot a mile away but the Sub 11 to 12 differences are way more nuanced, and I'd say it's closer to 964 to 993, or 997 to 991 territory. Plus, I've never seen P car guys complain about wider hips.

I still wear mines daily to work in the construction business, only problem I ever had with the case is the four sharp corners. I was taking my 4 year old kid out the back car seat, carried her into the house bc it was raining, when I put her down quickly she was crying and held her sides. I checked her back and there it was, at big scratch about 6” long just really red.

Ive seen this comparison and I get the logic behind it but I dont agree -- aesthetics of the 996 made the 911 look worse, while I think its fair to say the look of the 11 series sub 'leveled-up' the line

Tough to describe because the differences are so minimal but I also think the squared off lugs (again not that theyre all that different now, or all that different on the GMT - literally almost impossible to tell when side by side) holistically gave the watch a bit more presence on the wrist and moved it towards a watch that didnt just look like a tool/dive watch any more but belonged on the wrist at almost any occasion - even more so than its predecessor

..cue old Bond images lol

Picked up my 116610LN in December of 2013. No regrets and no plans to ever move it on to a new home. From fit, to looks, to function, this watch is just about as perfect as it gets!

The analogy of the 996 Porsche to the 11 series is way off mark to me, you can spot a 996 easily, you need to be a WIS to notice an 11 series, I love the 11 series as having a 8.75-9 inch wrist it proportionately perfect for me, i don’t understand the hate some have for it, we are all into Rolex and should respect people’s preferences. One of the reasons I don’t post much now was the ridiculous posts slating the 11 when the 12 was released, it was bordering on childish, as I’ve said previously my analogy of those posts were like my dads better than you dad!

most people cannot tell the difference on the watch alone unless you put them side by side. the 11 series is a true classic especially pair with the 31xx movement.
