I have a buddy with a RG L1. It is really beautiful, and to me most all Langes are beautiful from both sides. I tried one on in Switzerland, though, and the thickness was too much for me. That is my only qualm with the brand. The 3D architecture of the movement is really something, but I suppose it's enhanced by the actual depth of the watch itself.

The standard Lange 1 is 9.8mm thick, the 1815 and 1815 up/down are at 8.7mm thick and under, and the Saxonia Thin is 5.9mm thick.

Maybe some of the complicated pieces like their chronos, the 31 day power reserve, and the Zeitwerk; but, their base models are very well proportioned.

I think AR makes smudges easier to see IMO. It gives them color.
