30 years old next week
My first Rolex was a Sub Date, Purchased Locally 23/03/1993 still going strong , Cost £1775 , Two RSC services and one replacement bracelet, now living with my son .
Does anyone else remember there first purchase ,I remember it like it was yesterday, plenty of pieces have come and gone but this has some special meaning and part of the reason it’s with my son is ,I know he would never sell it . I am 60 next year and want some thing new to celebrate . I would like something 40mm and don’t wear yellow or rose gold , I have tried it and feel it’s too flash, Platinum,White Gold ,Stainless is my thing , Even Titanium if it was available. Don’t wear Leather straps either . Suggestions are welcome Thanks for reading |

My first, 1986, I earned my Navy Pilot Wings. The model? A GMT of course.

DD40 or a WG sub would be my vote! The sub is a great stealth wealth piece especially with the black dial now.
Any other pieces in your collection currently? |

I have had a couple of smurfs , but disliked the Maxi Case, I do like the new Blue 41mm Sub but my brother in law has the same piece , I’d love a Platinum Sub 🤩🤩

Call me crazy, but I’d consider going full circle and get another Submariner date
Happy 60th in advance |

You made it sound like this was going to be the 2nd watch you ever purchased, reading through the comments you’ve experienced quite a few! I think at 60 you should get whatever your heart desires and spend as much money as goddamn possible!! Ha

For a big birthday, like 60, I would go big, either WG or Platinum.
So...my thoughts would be a platinum DD or the WG with meteorite dial. If you wanted to stay "sportier" (if that's a word lol) then perhaps the WG sub or Pepsi? Happy birthday in advance, and kudos to you for keeping the sub in the family. |

Congrats on that! Hope I have a similar story when I’m 60! Turned 30 last year and purchased my first Rolex Explorer 1!

In answer to your other question if it were available I'd say a platinum daytona. |

You might be surprised about the TT CHNR. Check it out if you can. Looks great with leather or black rubber. Just saying.

Paul! Sorry you couldn't make it into the Air Force and settled for the Navy.
Cheers to my Brother in Arms! All in great spirit and comradeship! |

I would like to leave behind some modern classics . I do have my meters first sub and a Patent pending 1665 Seadweller, but consider both fragile , if anything went wrong and the dials got damaged ,they couldn’t be repaired . Maybe time to chop them and buy another Platinum piece
