What is your opinion on this 14060 ?

hi all-
been constantly searching for the right birth year 14060 [1991 n serial]
how do we feel about this one?

replacement hands? luminova? i know tritium hands on these haven't always aged matching dial patina but ya want to make sure..

also has the case been recut? it looks mighty sharp.
bracelet code r8 implies it's a bit later which i am fine with.

any other red flags or things to note and i am all ears.
thankful for the wealth of knowledge in this community!

Almost certainly the hands are luminova replacements. The case is definitely polished and top surface probably rebrushed, the chamfers are not super sharp IMO, but not terrible either. Bracelet also refinished. All very common occurrences, but personally the dramatic mismatch between hands and dial lume would bother me.

thanks dan -
photos can be deceptive and maybe my eye is trying to convince me there is a tinge of tan in those hands with the warmer white balance of the photo but i'm leaning to agree with them being luminova. i had reached out to the seller for confirmation but am yet to hear back. i can handle a bit of mismatch but luminova hands vs tritium dial is definitely too much.

If you don't care about originality maybe you can get a good price and then have the hands color matched. Otherwise, you can easily find a nice N serial sub. The whole birthyear thing has been discussed at length here. I once wanted one too. I rather buy condition personally and not create a sentimental connection. Many vintage and neo-vintage watches end up being pieces along a journey to others. Keep this in mind if you buy this one - many people might not be interested in it when or if it came time to sell.

The hands are most likely replacement luminova hands and it’s a no go for me. The case has been repolished but the job is decent (chamfers, still fat case, nice brushing on lugs). The issue with birth year watches is that instead of looking for the best condition watch you focus on a specific year and the chances of finding a very nice condition watch in your criteria and from a specific year are very slim.

Nice looking watch that has been prepped and finished for sale.

The only real way to know if the hands are Luminove is to shine a light on them.

Even if the hands are tritium, they've most likely been replaced, and the patina mismatch would be a deal-breaker for me.

Also, as stated above, the case has definitely been refinished/polished and would be too "soft" for my liking, especially the crown guards.

For comparison, here's my (former) 14060 that I'm confident was unpolished. This is what you want to see on the case/crown guards.

Here is a 14060M, absolutely untouched - exactly how they come from the factory.

And a later version with the plastic still in place.

The one in the first picture doesn't look untouched. The case holes seem rounded.
