Thank you and no thank you

Folks,

After wearing the polar for a week straight, I decided to put on the Sub.

I mentioned that I consider selling it.

Well, now I don’t. So thank you for those who said I should jot be hasty.

But not thank you because now I am left with 5 watches.

Seriously now, the 5 digit 14060m (mine is from 2011) are so comfortable it is just insane. I literally can’t feel it on the wrist.

The robustness of the new Rolexes is undoubtedly impressive but the comfort of the old ones is just… amazing.

Good decision! I wouldn't let that one go.
If I were to get a 5 digit back in the collection, that one would likely be it.

In my opinion the older ones look beautiful and that one is one I’d be keeping for sure

Unless someone needs cash now, I don't understand selling a 5 digit sub anytime soon (and I have 3). I'm not a market expert, but over time I doubt they will lose value - and will likely appreciate as rolex continues to raise prices. In 1973 I bought my father an explorer - which I inherited when he passed. I paid $275 for it. After keeping it for 10 yrs myself, In 2010 I had multiple offers at $3k for it. Since it was too small (for me) I sold it and got a SS 16610 date in 2011. Again, I could be wrong, but my rolexes will go to the kids - and I will recommend they keep them awhile before they contemplate selling them.

Same feeling I get today with the Pelagos 39, I bet because it's the spitting image of a 5 digit sub

Agree. And I don’t think it’s not just the prices of the new models, but that people will realize that many of those models were peak Rolex. It’s like the old 911s that were just used cars not too long ago. And now people have come to realize that those are better than the new ones if you’re more of a purist and car guy.
Or old guitars that were just made from better materials than anything even remotely available today.

I don’t know what Polar you have(I’m assuming newer), but 5 digit are definitely more comfortable than newer references. The 5 digit Polar is even more comfortable than the Sub in my opinion.

In my mind, a 5-digit is in never sell category…unless it’s for financial reasons.

Glad you came to your senses! Don't plan to ever sell my 14060M or 16570 polar.

The 5 digits are superb, I came to love them just as much as the 6 digits if not even more
