I like the first shot Bruce. Reminds me of dusk during the summer season.

How's the weather in UK at this time of the year?

Thanks! It's been really wet and mild down in the southwest lately. Today was beautiful and a bit cool.

Thanks Peter. We drive by the Springer Spaniel every time we head into Callington (or previously when going to Launceston from Callington/Stoke Climsland). I've never been in, but Tam remembers it from years ago. Her dad told me it was just expensive She also remembers The Wheal Tor (I had to ask where Pensilva is, lol - out toward Liskeard she says). Apparently they used to have an all you can eat and her dad wouldn't get off the first course of ribs Neither one of us knows Lower Netherton. Where's that?

So much good down here despite the backwardness. This house we're in has gas bottles outside for heating and hot water. I thought that odd since we were on a gas main in Stoke, but then I read an article on BBC the other day about how backward Cornwall is, and how most of the county isn't on the mains. It's bloody expensive too! There's no Fedex down here either. Packages are delivered by a contract courier. I had to get a parcel to the US so I went to a DHL office in Launceston. They said, "we don't ship to the US from this branch". I thought, "WTF you're DHL"!!! I wouldn't trade it though. After being up around Northants and seeing all those stressed out guys in suits, not smiling and looking like the people I left around DC, I gained a whole new respect for good 'ol backwards Cornwall - the land that time forgot
Cheers,
Bruce

Nice pictures Bruce. I miss those clear skies with hardly any polution or dust, here on a good summer's day they are grey.

Thanks Adrian! The clear sky (when it's not raining) is one of the things I love about this area. Especially in the winter, there are some really dramatic sky days. I was in awe of it the first time I was down here.
Cheers,
Bruce

Bruce, you're making Cornwall sound idyllic. If they had opera, symphony and theater, I'd consider making the jump.

What, no Starbucks? Almost makes me want to move there even more - to get away from that sludge they perpretrate on the public.

LOL it is overpriced for sure, but I still miss going there. It was our "local" in Annapolis. You could go to the pub here and have a few pints for what we used to drop in Starbucks every damn day

Right in the heart of Bodmin Moor from Launceston A30 then B3254 south Petherwin to Coads Green, B3257 Rilla Mill another good pub the Manor house. If I remember there was a farm that sold proper farmhouse cheese there, great stuff think it was called Yak cheese farm or something like that, then Lower Netherton. Its about a 15 to 20 minute drive form Launceston,Agree Cornwall and Wales have very strong ties in-fact the Cornish language in some ways, very similar to Welsh. But the UK in general now is a very expensive place to live, especially places like London.I have spent quite a bit of time around the Deven Cornwall area and spent many a happy holiday there.
