Is something like this a good buy for a first time Rolex buyer?
Hi everyone,
I am looking to purchase my first Rolex as I have just recently started my watch collection. Since I am only 24 and have a very limited budget (around 2k), I was looking through the trusted dealers links to see if I could find anything. I found elady and it seems that overall they have a good trust built on this forum. Is something like this a safe bet to buy for my first Rolex? Other people on this forum suggested I post the links to have people who are much more knowledgeable take a look at it. They have a code right now that will bring the price down significantly, though I am unsure how they wouldn't be selling at a loss then. Also when buying from elady, what are the fees that I would run into if I am shipping it to the US? https://mall.elady.com/item/title/Vi...65458-BF565458 Thank you all so much! Sam |

You would get a lot more feedback if you had put it in the vintage section.

Honestly I would save a little more if you want a Rolex that represents what the brand is now. Vintage can be a minefield. You can get a used, modern era, Datejust for 5-6K in the US if you look around a little. |

If your budget is 2k I’d suggest waiting and saving more then buy a more modern watch like a 1990s datejust for 3500 or so. You’ll get more modern reliability and timekeeping, more modern sizing and automatic winding

Thanks all! If I want to look for something such as a datejust for 3500, where would the best place to do that be?

Probably Chrono24 is as good a place to start as any, just to get an idea of what you get for the price. You can apply various filters such as location, price, watch size and so on. But honestly, you won't be getting much for $3500, especially if you want it in 36mm. If you are looking for something smaller than 36mm you will have more options in that price range.

I would pass on that watch unless you can independently verify it is genuine.
