Has nothing to do with the watch you wear. Has everything to do with how much you know what you’re talking about.

I typically wear 1 of 2 watches at Rolex AD drive bys.

1. 116500 White Daytona ... typical response is to ask where I bought it from.

2. WG Blue-dialed Pepsi ... typical response is to say 'wow, that's a nice watch, what are you interested in today?'

Where did you get the 116500 - and if "secondary" - do you tell them?

I am usually wearing my black 116500LN when I visit various ADs but I’m dressed like what I am, a married man with kids. My kids classmates once asked my kids why their dad dresses like a poor person when he wears expensive watches .

I got the 116500 from an AD as a first-time walk in off the street.

It makes for a good story and is true, but I think a made up 'big spender at prior AD' story would probably get me more points...

I walked into an AD I'd never been in before wearing my 116509.

I was dressed extremely casually in jeans and an old T shirt. My entire left arm is tattooed as is much of my right.

The "doorman" was a bit reluctant to let me in

However the youngish SA who greeted me with the warmest of smiles and a polite handshake's first words after the initial greeting and polite welcome were "That's a beautiful Daytona, is there anything specific I can help you with"

Clearly the watch says I'm not a tyre kicker and the way I was dressed says I'm not here to try and impress you.

When I smiled said "don't worry, I'm not interested in anything in the professional range in stainless steel" I'm pretty sure I made his day

If.you walk in with a pepsi or Daytona that means you have connections or a spender.

I would think that would.mean they would want to become your go to ad and make the commissions off you

I wear my F-91W. It puts the SA on notice that I know my watches.

Snoopy 50th anniversary. Always a conversation starter. People even ask to try it on at different ADs (I only shop at one nowadays) and take pictures.

Splashing 50k on jewelry helps the most (per a Rolex AD SA)
