I like the WG better. Rolex RG is a bit too red for my taste as full bracelet watch.

Skin tone aside, it's the metal that matters and WG will never have the same pop as RG.

If you're trying to stay low key, which in reality is pretty futile when you're talking about a DD, then no contest, WG.

BTW, I really like how the blue looks on you. Unless there's some other reason you're looking at the olive, that would be my choice.

White gold VS Rose gold Day Date 40

Since you have so many stainless watches I’d go rose for something extra special. I’d also go rose for myself. The wg olive is not an exciting watch, didn’t last very long in my collection.

A 40k solid gold Rolex Day Date 40mm, with fluted bezel and president bracelet, will NEVER be understated, regardless of dial, metal or skin color.

Stop it. Looks like a steel watch to 99% of the public in WG

That is not the point. Whether it’s a SS/WG/Pt datejust, skydweller, or daydate, you are fooling yourself if you think the color makes any difference in recognizability. The fluted bezel scream Rolex from a mile away, it’s internationally recognized as expensive, whether 15k or 40k no one cares other than the fact it’s a Rolex. Sorry, there’s just no thing as subtle when it comes to a modern Rolex with fluted bezel.

You're not going to go wrong with either, but the white gold with the blue dial is fabulous.

Rose gold is more noticeable than white gold. White gold looks more like SS to the novice. However, WG is understated elegance. I would take the WG over Rose all day every day. You asked, so I told you my thoughts.

RG looks better sat on the table but it blends with your skin tone when worn (I have the same issue) which IMO does not really ‘work’.
The WG works better from that perspective but for a white metal I get drawn to Pt but the price there is steep.
As a few people have suggested try YG. I was surprised how much better YG looked when I actually tried it on (with black dial to give contrast).

i personally wouldn't go for wg with your collection. you already have enough steel + a skydweller has a lot of similarities. just feels like a wg dd won't feel as special to wear in this case and i always think the first dd should be colored gold

They both look good, but IMO the RG works better on you - your skin tone is just warm/dark enough to pull off RG; RG looks better on tan/darker skin IMO and looks terrible on a pasty glow in the dark arm, which isn't you.

WG is nice stealth wealth, but isn't WG warmer/yellow than steel because ultimately it's an alloy starting with yellow gold, so it'll never be as white as steel or platinum. That's a knock against WG for me personally...if I'm wearing something silver, it needs to be super silver and WG doesn't meet that criteria.

I have the RG so that would be my choice but both look great on you. WG blue daytime and RG at night.

The most discreet is YG because most people will think it is a fake.

All Day-Date are gorgeous timepiece, go with the one you love the most on your wrist.

For me, WG looks best with meteorite dial, for other dials RG looks better.
