INCOMING 126000 Silver w/ details of purchase experience
38 days after registering interest with a single-store AD, away from the fancy downtown shopping areas and tony suburban environs: I GOT THE CALL, while visiting a totally different AD about 100 miles from home!
A little more than a month ago, I had a wonderful visit with the SA and no promises were made, but I felt good about registering interest in an OP36 Silver. The AD is not conveniently located for me, so I had not yet made a return visit, however, we exchanged a few emails. I really appreciated the emails, since I prefer emails over informal texts. While I waited, I visited several other ADs in the area and only one offered a similar experience... which was another single-location AD with two sincere Sales Associates. I had been on a list for this watch with a fancy premier AD for about 11 months, but the communication was professional, but not sincere. When I first visited the fancy, multi-store AD, I was not aware of RolexForums. My honest comments to SA at the fancy AD about previous Rolex ownership via Grey-dealers and grey-acquisition of a similar model, were not helpful at all. I eventually realized that they were not going to sell me a watch. None of the ADs suggested that I make other purchases or develop a history. I also felt that a few other multi-store ADs were not going to sell me a watch. My visit today, to the single-store AD today was wonderful, easy-going, and friendly. My new AD explained how to set and wind the watch and she sized it for me. I was so tickled to see the watch taken out of the tiny white shipping box and all of the stickers removed, before being placed into the green presentation box. While I waited during the registration process, they offered to clean my wedding band... so now I have a shiny watch and ring. I look forward to visiting again and I plan to bring a thank you gift the next time I visit, since I learned a little more about the SA and what her family might enjoy. I also tried on an exhibition piece: GMT-Master II (Root Beer, maybe?) I really liked the 40mm size...maybe one-day, I'll see if I can register interest in a GMT-Master II Black Sprite... I love the lefty configuration. Anyway, so happy to have made my first official, brand new Rolex purchase. I present to you the lovely watch that I can wear everyday and everywhere: 126000a11212023.jpg 126000b11212023.jpg ------------------ 126000 OP36 Silver 124200 OP34 Silver 67243 OP26 18K/SS 91520 Tudor Prince-Quartz Oysterdate 3944j Patek Phillipe Quartz |

Beautiful, Bob. The silver dial in 36mm is my favourite configuration for the current OP. Congrats!

Thanks Kat... I appreciate your advice and advocacy for the Oyster Perpetual series. You are the expert! BTW, a small-town AD accepted an order from me for a DJ36 Silver, since he said that he could order that model. Now I have to email him and let him know that I no longer need that watch. I think I will seek a GMT lefty for the next several years... gotta have something else to pursue. ------------------ 126000 OP36 Silver 124200 OP34 Silver 67243 OP26 18K/SS 91520 Tudor Prince-Quartz Oysterdate 3944j Patek Phillipe Quartz |
