Sadly, he couldn't make it to Christmas!!

Hi guys,

Some time back I had started up this thread if you remember... http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=8345

Well, last night, my friend, Douglas Arthur Kingett, finally succumbed to terminal cancer of the lymph nodes. He was on morphine for a couple of days, but in the end, I was only too happy to see him out of his pain and misery.

The funeral is on Friday.

R.I.P.

Thats sad JJ but now he is without pain, which IMO is a blessing. We would not let our animals suffer, but unfortunately we do with humans.Myself believe if there is no hope, you should be given the choice to end with dignity.

Very sorry to hear it. I lost a very dear uncle to pancreatic cancer three year ago. It was somewhat of a relief to finally see him free of his pain.

Sorry to hear JJ, but at least he had the luxury of knowing what to expect and the time to prepare. It doesn't make the loss any easier, but he's in a better place.

Thanks for all your wishes, guys. The funeral is on this afternoon (Friday for me) at 1 pm. There's going to be quite a big crowd from our museum alone.

Sorry to hear that JJ. You've all got my condolences. It sounds like he led a full, fun life with great friendships, I'm sure it's better that he's not in pain anymore. I hope you all remember the good times & have a bit of a laugh, as tough as it is.

Thanks, Otis...and all of you. The funeral was this afternoon at 1 pm and it was beautiful.

A couple of guys (including our museum Director) said a few words to the large congregation in the emotion-charged chapel and many of us cracked up.

Doug was a great guy and a wonderful friend and colleague at MOTAT...loved by all who knew him. I'm sure he's in a much better place now.
