A tale of two ceramics

It is AP that got me on the ceramic bandwagon, although other brands don’t do ceramic like AP does it. Still, my appreciation has extended to Omega and Tudor as I am always interested to see what other brands may venture to build.

It may seem funny, but my main reservation about ceramic watches (and also titanium) is how light some can be. While I do like to ‘feel’ the watch on my wrist, I have grown to appreciate the comfort and ease of lighter watches. It’s a matter of balance. So when it comes to ceramic ROOs, I find they strike this balance through the lightness of ceramic in combination with their relatively big/hefty size that does not overwhelm my wrist. The same applies to my ceramic case Codes, which the steel is on even lighter side of the spectrum. I had previously declined the ceramic ROC as I’m holding out for a different ceramic offering, but I recognize that AP’s non-ROO ceramics are much lighter and require more awareness on my part. Cross that bridge if/when I get there.

Separately, I need to give a big shout out to AP for their quick release bracelet system on these 43mm pieces. It can make for very colorful combinations.

The 37 in black ceramic was a nice addition by AP.

I want the 43mm music so bad. My SA hinted it's not possible for a 1st piece. Killer combo. Wear them in good health!

Sincere thanks, Z.
The music edition seemed to be a polarizing release from the start, but there were those who liked it. I petitioned hard for one as a dedicated musician and connection to the industry, so much so that I was willing to audition for it…but it didn’t come to that.

Now that’s passion! You definitely are deserving of the Music Edition!

Excellent pair only thing I will done different is choose 37mm ceramic Music Edition instead of 43... the dial is a little bit empty on 43, even that is visually much more pronounced on steel than yours ceramic version... and I think that 37mm on most man sub 7.5 wrists will look great... as long as it miss diamonds on bezel...

The 37mm version was presented later, but would have been prohibitively small for me anyway. That’s an interesting point since the ratio of colored bars to ‘negative’ space is the same on each of these pieces. But I love the empty black space within the all black watch. This is in contrast to the empty dinner plate dials of the previous RO models. In this case, it’s probably the black color that makes the empty space inconspicuous to me.
