Congrats on the surprise incoming, Kat! I love the Wimbledon dial. My friend has the larger version (I cannot remember if it's a DJ41 or another model). Great looking watch!

I remember you from my early days as an Omega enthusiast something like 15ish years ago, on other watch forums. Your collection has taken a very clear turn towards Rolex territory in recent years, eh? Nice.

Hi, Eric. Thank you. The Wimbledon is only available in the Datejust, so your friend has a DJ 41. Yes, I was a big Omega fan back then. I have to say Rolex is a bit more special. Having said that, I still love the Speedy Pro.

I went through a LOT of different Omega watches as my gateway that led to Rolex within a few short years. I miss some of those watches and sometimes think about getting one for nostalgia's sake. I had the original orange bezel Planet Ocean in 42mm and then went through no less than 4-5 other POs in different color combos and sizes 42 or 45. I had some modified 2254.50 action and a couple of Speedy Pro models. Even a dressier watch or two (remember the Aqua Terra?). Fun times.

Enjoy your new Wimbledon dial DJ!

I had all those watches you mentioned, (except no 45 mm POs), and then some, but one or two, at a time. I probably went through 2 dozen, or so, Brand new Omegas, maybe more. I would buy them at a 30% discount, wear them for awhile, then flip them, sometimes, at a profit.
I would always, at least, break even. That was a fun time. After I retired, early, I changed to collecting Seikos, but didn’t flip them. I own dozens. I currently own over 100 watches. After what happened on Saturday, and as my Rolex collection grows, I am going to start selling most of my lower end stuff, which, even on the resale market, is worth thousands of dollars. I have an eBay store.

My new SA, who I already had a relationship with (bought our wedding jewelry from har, and my original SA, Dave, got a promotion to another location) asked me if I’d like to see the watch. I said, “Sure”. She offered it to me, and I am now the proud owner of yet another 36 mm Datejust: the Wimbledon bi-metal on oyster with yellow gold fluted bezel. Good thing my husband was with me, and approved.

Thank you, Scott. I have been drawn to it, also, after seeing it, and trying it on several times. So, when opportunity knocked, I answered. 😊 Cheers!

Beautiful and great timing! I'm hoping my casual mentions might spawn something similar.
