That damage was not caused by a jacket button unless it was fired out of a gun. I would give it to Rolex, get a new clasp and be happy that the watch is back to new.

If so I'd do nothing.
Have to agree as long as clasp functions as normal just leave it till routine service time.

I suggest removing the clasp and giving it to a good jeweler, who I believe will make short work of a repair.

This is what I think also. I could see heating it up, bending the dent out, then polishing up the damage done. White gold is relatively soft, an experienced jeweler should be able to do this. Worst case scenario, they have to add some metal via laser welding.

Beautiful! I love how each dial is so unique. Mine has much more brown in it.

Great watch. Best of luck with the repair. Jewelers can make it better if not like new. Let us know how it turns out..

Yes defo caused by a jacket button - the indent matches the exact contour of the button and there is no other way it could have happened.

So the plot thickens - RSC UK want to charge £2,400 for an exchange of the clasp cover (they will keep the damaged clasp) whereas RSC Dubai will charge just under £3,000 but will allow me to keep the original clasp cover.

Has anyone else come across this with Rolex UK wanting to keep the damaged part and providing a quote on an exchange basis?

in any case, it's a beautiful watch and far too underrated. Wear it in good health.

Oryx, that is awful. Normally I am part of the ‘let it be’ crowd but that would really bother me, I would definitely get that fixed. Following others advice, seek out a good jeweler or Rolliworks to try and save a few bucks. If they don’t guarantee they can make it look perfect, then I would fork out the 2400 with Rolex. Actually, if me, I would just give it to my AD and tell them to make it right.

The YM42 is one of my favorites. Though I have never had a chance to see a falcon eye, I consider it a special watch. If you do too, then after a little time, the extra money won’t bother you.

And though I feel bad for your situation, that’s a heck of a good hit. You actually dented it. Please develop a better story for that one. Bar fight or crazy night out and you don’t remember. Just not the jacket.
