Curious - from a complete stop, how many times do you wind the crown until resistance/stop is felt? I got to around 50 (could go on...) and was worried about damaging it.

Until the crown stops. Do not see how you could damage it as there is quite a stop that you cannot really ignore, you'd really have to force it further a lot and noticably.
