Rolex font - service dial

Hi,

Recelty picked up this nice 15223 at my last visit to AD - it was sold to me by the owner of the AD franchise who has an awesome vintage collection. I bought several watches from him earlier. All are serviced at RSC and come with the factory warranty.

When I was inspecting a watch I did notice the weird Rolex font - mind you, that is not why I picked it up and I would have bought it even if it had “normal” serif font. I immediately remembered a Bark and jack video of an exp 1 service dial with very similar font and I rembered reading something on the forum as well.

I have full paper work on the watch and I do not doubt it is genuine. i also browsed through the catalogue and did not find a similar dial font anywhere. So, I am asking here if some of you can tell me more. I did not go to Ad yet and I am prepared to never again service it officially as to prevent Rolex taking back the dial. Then again, perhaps it is just a regular boring dial?

Thanks in advance

Gorgeous.

I have no idea, but I agree. Get it serviced by a qualified independent. Consider a CW21 watchmaker.

Thanks for sharing the photos

Swiss Made would suggest a service dial.

It is 100% a service dial and it came from Rolex and was installed by Rolex RSC - the wierd “Rolex” font is the key actor here. That is what I am curious, if somebody else can share some more info. I am not sure if this is a one-off fluke, some sort of prototype that qc missed or if it is a regular service dial. All the other service dials I saw, not only for this reference, have normal serif font in “Rolex” logo.
