I like the Air King, I think it’s quite a majestic watch, a really good starter watch too …
Not keen on the Milgauss ..

I like it, too! I think it is a great looking watch with funky colours all over. But the majority of people are conservative and go with the herd, for boring, bland time pieces ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I understand the appeal of nearly every Rolex.
I love the corporate green and gold of the AK and the flieger style emphasis on minutes as opposed to hours. It's not for everyone, but it's cool. The DSSD is a very capable tool watch. Too big for many, but I think it's tough. The Milgauss was in need of replacement. Even it's name represented lagging behind the competition as watchmaking moved forward with anti magnetism technology. That said, it was quirky and different. I really liked the green dial and the lighting bolt second hand really stood out. I hope it reappears in a modern version soon. For me.. It's the Cellini and 1908 that give me pause. It's just not their market. Rolex's foundation is based on tool and functionality, not detailed svelte dress pieces. I think Patek, VC, and ALS are far more desirable in the dress category. |

I've never understood any generation of the Air King. You could get one that looks just like an OP, one with a colorful Explorer dial (that bright green dial was pretty nice though), or now one with a really busy Explorer dial. Maybe I am semi consciously biased though, when I first wanted a Rolex 20+ years ago, Dominos logo Air Kings were the cheapest men's Rolex out there and I seriously considered buying one.
My opinion probably is not relevant here though, as one of the other contenders in this poll is my favorite Rolex in the catalog |

Neither hugely float my boat.
However I’d say Deepsea would be least popular due to size and weight. |

I like the air king (all these are good watches honestly), but it is still the most unpopular of the bunch.

Listen, if a loved one gave me the most recent Air King as a gift I would wear it with joy and without irony, I just wouldn’t pay for it. And I love the different colorways of the Milgauss but as much as I love orange the lightning bolt seconds hand is just a skosh over the top for me. As for the DSSD, that’s the keeper in this bunch.
