Always from an AD for both new and pre-owned. I’ve always been able to get what I want without looking further.

Wow, I have never heard of this rough formula before. It makes total sense.

I do both. I get what I get from my AD's and I'm always shopping for a good deal from the grays I frequent.

Both. Mostly gray, but prefer AD. Latest was from AD.

All mine were either from ADs (60%), or from Japan at Nakano Broadway (40%)

Have purchased 4 all from AD. 2 for me / 2 for my wife. Not super hard to get watches but not easy either

1. AK
2. SD 43
3. DJ 36M
4. DJ 36M TT MOP Diamond Markers (ordered)

Patiently waiting for the GMT from the AD - will see how long I can hold my breath.

AD for me. I like buying new and the certainty of the transaction and I actually like my gal at the store. But my collection is small. 2 Rolex. 1 Tudor. 1 Cartier for the missus. Maybe a Zenith or Tag someday but nothing has really inspired me. If I was more of a collector or willing to paying a premium on pricing, I would order new or used from Hodinkee or DavidSW for sure.

Neither. I buy from collectors as I'm a 5 digit guy with extreme Rolex OCD - so only the best LNOS etc... :D
