Rolex was one of a handful of watch brands that announced marketing campaigns in the trade journals; advertisements for advertisements so-to-speak e.g. announcements for the Tudor "Trials of Destruction" advertising campaign appearing in the Horological Journal in the 1950s.

Here is an "advertisement for an advertisement" appearing in the November 1964 Horological Journal (the actual advertisement appearing in consumer magazines eludes me).

Note: Tony Lema passed away two years after this advertisement appeared in the Horological Journal.
