Grand Seiko 2024 Price increase!

Rather quietly, Grand Seiko has increased their MSRP.

Here in Canada, a general 13% increase hit the AD websites before the Official GS site updated the prices.

Here are some models in the US:

lol GS continue to kill themselves by increasing prices. gap between secondary and retail prices will widen and that itself will kill GS's brand long term when other brands in this range like Tudor has more appeal and less depreciation

Maybe they will give bigger discount in the future. I got my SLGW005 with 10% discount and nearly $2k cash card which I used for buying an Oris watch.

Not sure I agree with this, especially the part about Tudor having more appeal. I can’t find a Tudor I like enough to buy. The finish is not in the same universe as GS.

The most interesting Grand Seikos, whether by looks and/or movements, will continue to hold value. Not like a Rolex, of course, but with relatively minimal depreciation. It’s key if you’re buying new to get a discount to soften the blow if you end up selling it.

I, personally, would never buy a Tudor over a Grand Seiko. I own a couple and they get more wear than my Rolex watches. Couldn't agree more with what swish77 said.

Tend to agree. I own and have owned both and enjoy both, but Tudor just isn't at the level of GS. The finishing, indices & markers, polishing, and movements are just far more advanced in Grand Seiko. Whether that translates to sales or value retention is a separate discussion, but GS is at a level with Rolex and Omega IMO. Tudor a step below.

Grand Seiko recently implemented a significant price increase, with a 13% hike in Canada and updated U.S. prices now available. While their craftsmanship remains top-tier, this may lead collectors to rethink the brand’s value compared to competitors. It’s worth monitoring how this affects availability and demand at ADs.

While nicely finished, with the exception of their PM references, the indices and hands on GS are not gold.

Rolex and even Omega provide gold hands and indices.
