Inexpensive but great writing instruments . . .
I find it difficult to write for extended periods of time with my MB pens. Although I love them, they feel cumbersome after a while. Here I've included pictures of my inexpensive but treasured pens.
Everyone is familiar with the G2s, but the Pilot "Center of Gravity" is pretty terrific. It was designed by a physical therapist and is literally the most comfortable pen I have ever used. It uses something Pilot refers to as "turbo ink," and although not a true gel, writes in a deep carbon black. (You would be hard-pressed to differentiate the ink from a true gel.) Thank you, guys, for the FP recommendation and I intend to order the Lamy before the day is through. I love the idea of not simply writing with different color inks, but also the sense of antiquity that I associate with FPs.

I can't imagine writing much with any pen.
Or trying to read it afterwards!

Faith,, I love the way those G2 Gels write, and fortunately for me, the ink cartridges in those also fit some of my rollerball pens, and these G2s are cheaper than some of my rollerball refills, so these rollerballs become gels!

Well, perhaps boring in the sense that I have "worn" these two for the last fortnight!
I may change things out tomorrow. Probably go with the YM and my other 149 with the italic nib. It's nice to have a choice.

Since this "Writing Instruments" section opened, I've been spending (happily) most of my forum time here. What a smart idea to add this section!

It has added a new and exciting dimension to TRF and it is great to find other TRFers that love writing instruments! Not to mention that many have great collections and lots of knowledge! Good on you Steve for getting this added to TRF!!! Now my hope is that we can introduce others here to the satisfactions of writing instruments, related items, and ephemera.

I got home today only to find a delivery notice, I missed the mail man by minutes so have to wait till after 1.00pm tomorrow to pick it up from the post office! As soon as I get it home tomorrow I will ink it up with some J.Herbin Poussier De Lune which has lovely shading qualities and do a review. I am eager for the good folks of this forum to see what a wonder Nakaya are! Also just ordered my first batch of Diamine ink from Stylus pens in Edmonton. Both colours chosen for their shading and richness. Got the Ruby and majestic blue, should be here next week and I will write up a couple of reviews on them as well! Next in the mail is the Montegrappa Historia limited editon that I managed to snag, #410?1000 pre- Richemont made in 1999..Can't wait but will have to as I am having the store keep it until Christmas so I have a nice present to myself to open! Here is a badly lit shot of the Nakaya pre flexi nib. I will try to get better lighting so as to show off the amazing colour of this pen! In this shot it is between the Chopin and carene This one is a stock photo but shows the colour better! |

I think Dani Trio puts out one with the same finish and perhaps a little larger, but I not sure I have my facts straight. Anyway, congrats on that nib and I will be watching for the review!
